What liberal policies, exactly, lead a group of people to riot because they believe they are being discriminated against by their government? The ordeal in France is because French citizens are being treated like crap by the gov't, authorities, and the majority.
I remember you posting something about a really f***ed racist thing that happened to you and your family (a sign in your yard I think...). Now what if you were an immigrant somewhere, and everyone around you thought that way and made it obvious to you that in your new country, it was OK to think of you and your wife as less than citizens. Wouldn't you riot? I bet you would...or at least kick someone's a$$
Or would you just move back to your country of origin to help alleviate the immigration problem in your new country. I doubt that you would.

We are talking about normal human behavior here, and that is why immigration NATURALLY causes conflict. You learn in B-school that successful companies acquire only companies with compatible culture, where those workers (who are the asset) can be quickly and fully integrated.
It doesn't take rocket science to apply that modern society, to groups that are known to have intra/inter-group conflict, and to know you are asking for trouble when you immigrate individual participants of those groups by the millions.
You speak of the racist act that happened to me, but in truth my foreign equivalent would have had his house torched. Racism is expected in the American-born, and it "should" subside with education and the passing of time, but what about all of the complexities of foreign-born racism? When one person will hack his own neighbor to bits based on his tribe or religion, are we to feel comfortable with them?
This is not a simple issue, but it is one we must not ignore.
