UK Muslims Head for Baghdad to Plea for Hostage (rant included)
This is what needs to happen IMHO and should have happened from the start. Muslims need to condemn these actions by getting involved.
Although there's a few Islamic leaders that are against the kidnapings and beheadings like Grand Sheik Mohammed Sayed Tantawi, most others seem to look away. Why is this?!
Most other Islamic leaders like Mohammed Mahdi Akef believe kidnaping is justified but killing is not?!
Isn't that the result of kidnaping if the ransom isn't satisfied? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills! Other Muslim leaders actually believe the beheadings and recent insurgent guerrila uprising is the work of the Israelis, who want to tarnish the image of Muslims!
Why aren't these leaders standing hand-in-hand in the middle of the ****ing desert denying Jihad and passage to Allah with an iron fist?! They could do even do this and still be completely against Bush and his agenda. The Reverend Jesse Jackson said he is willing to travel to Iraq to seek the release of hostages and has been successful with past attempts in Kuwait. Here's the kicker... he worships a different God!
They are either subconsciously supporting the insurgency, are exploiting the insurgency -or- aren't concerned with the tarnishing of their faith. I'm not an ignorant man in the slightest but wonder "what if?" whenever I see a Muslim on U.S. soil, don't you? This must be the type of image they want, right?
I just don't get it anymore!

KUWAIT (Reuters) - Prominent British Muslims arrived in Kuwait on Saturday en route to Baghdad to plead for the release of 62-year-old engineer Kenneth Bigley, seized by Islamist militants nine days ago
I believe and always maintain hope in the mercy of Allah," Daud Abdullah, a member of the delegation from the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), told Reuters Television at Kuwait International Airport.
"And we are hopeful that Mr Bigley is alive and that we will be able to exert some influence with those who hold him hostage," he said.
The kidnappers are threatening to kill Bigley unless women prisoners held in Iraq (news - web sites) are freed, but have set no deadline. They have already beheaded two Americans seized with him

Sorry, it has been an unusually busy day at work today and I haven't had the chance to comment but I agree with you fully on this. We need more of them to do exactly what these UK muslims are doing. The thing is they won't. I don't understand it either. I think some of them are starting to see what the extremists are doing to their faith and that is why you see a few of them like these guys who will stand up and say it isn't right. But, I think for the most part though most mid-east muslims feel their "brothers" get a blanket pass from any criticism based on the simple fact that they are also muslims.

I totally agree they need to stand up for what is right. Though I'm starting to see more and more muslims against this stuff, which is great, last week in my city there was a group of muslims who protested the beheadings and displayed american flags and what not showing their digust with the terrorists and stuff like that. Now we need more, maybe for once most of the world can unite.

I TOTALLY agree. When it comes to terrorism, you're either with us or your against us. None of this standing on the sidelines BS. I see Muslims on tv all the time claiming that not all muslims are terrorists (which I totally agree with) and that Islam is a religion of peace, yet I rarely really see them protest the terrorist activities with any sort of vigor. If I had someone making my religion look that bad, I would be denouncing them the most!-Chris
