I made it obvious that you don't know what you are talking about, so go back and bury your head in the sand.

It's stupid politicians and f***faces like you that elect them that are the problem.

What is the prevailing wage?
How much is labor in post Katrina LA worth and who decides what its worth, the market or the government?
Who's footing the construction bill? Insurance companies, taxpayers? Have we heard any solid projections on cost?
Can it be proven that they can or cannot get get the job done while paying or not paying the "prevailing wage"?
Who will be being paid the wage? Predominantly local or migrant workers?
We all seem to think it will be migrant workers right? How does the proposed wage they will be paid stack up against their average wage elsewhere? Does this even affect them seeing as we pay them less than the prevailing wage anyways?
Who is it going to affect and how?
These questions don't have easy answers. Was Bush's desiscion a good or a bad one? Its waaaaay too early to tell. I do understand as a liberal that the idea of paying a laborer less is generaly distasteful. In this case I believe that its best to let the market in question determine what labor is worth. Suspending a law that forces employers to pay a higher wage that may or may not be higher than what the market determines is the only way to do so. Thats not to say that employers will pay what they want to pay, if they don't pay enough then they won't get enough labor to make it work. They will be forced to pay higher, however if it turns out that the prevailing wage was artificially high due to the pre Katrina economy, and the influx of cheap migrant labor drives the going rate for labor down than an artificially high pre Katrina labor wage would be a hinderance to reconstruction progress.

Deyes' post is a FINE dose of what The Politics section needed. Some sence and reason in his post. It's obvious he sat down and put some deep thought into it. Thank you Deye's for not being the usual poster(including myself) and jumping the gun in post statements. You have gained much respect from me in my book. Just thought I'd show my appreciation.

Thank you much, I took a hiatus because of beefs in this section. As far as politics are concerned you really have to think critically and strive to look at the issue objectively. Not just about what your "opposition" is arguing but what your party is arguing. Common perceptions are just that, common. That does not mean they are sound.
