New beggining is going to be harder for victims
I'm getting word from property managers in CA, AZ and ID that building suppliers are scared about supply costs. They're not sure what Katrina might do to the building supply market so they're thinking of raising prices big time. New properties may increase about $30,000 (3/2 size) in materials. How many houses are in LA again? Do the math. Sucks to be them.

My aunt is a contractor. She had a bid for materials on a $400k house, and the day the hurricaine hit, home depot voided their bid.
That day, the price of OSB went up a buck a sheet.
This is in the upper midwest.
