kind of intersting when you think about what side has bastardized the meaning of the word so that now a majority of idiots see it as a curse..

dre- it's not a curse, it's a mental illness!

and maybe someone can tell me just what is conservative about the current "conservative" administration?

Substitute "terrorism" for the word "crime" and "muslims" for "black babies" and you'll see that these guys are simply parotting William Bennett's theories on making the world a better place

The current admin. is not conservative.
The word liberal has been hijacked and molested by the neo left and has become become the stereotype description of the average elf or peta member. Classical liberalisim is far different than modern liberalisim.

Classical liberalism (populism) is more similar to conservatism than neoconservatism is.

THAT's liberalism...modern and before. And it would be better than modern conservatism or old school conservatism. It just gets diluted and distracted by individuals with their own 'project politics'. There is no denying that all politics is shifting towards being liberal, due to the very definition of what liberal is (above). Conservatives are those individuals who are last to embrace the accomplishments of man kind because of their inability (or unwillingness) to understand the logic that leads to these accomplishments. Fear drives a reluctance to change. Being conservative is embracing that which is before change. Therefore conservatism is the fear of the human potential for change.

I'm all for "live and let live," but modern liberalism is now more about changing what's normal by force, rather than about tolerance and normal social change.

The word "liberal" repels even democrats today.... time for a new ploy???

Talking

Just because the word is regularly misinterpereted doesn't mean liberal isn't the way to go. I mean...like I said, we're all getting more and more liberal every day. Don't cry, it's the truth.

I don't agree, rather I see that some conservatives would try to maintain the status quo by force rather than using tolerance to allow the normal social progression towards the left. It IS hard to deny that our country (and the world) has been steadily moving towards the left since the beginning of the idea of government.

It's not hard to deny, it's impossible to deny.

Wait, isn't this thread supposed to be about the earthquake in Pakistan? lol
