We've had good success with the Portefield R4-S brake pads and Centric slotted rotors. The Porterfield pads are pretty quiet and don't eat up your rotors even when cold. They will also withstand 20+ min of track usage without fade.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks,
Preston

I just had my 45k mile service done on my '04 WRX sedan and was told that I need to get my rear brakes replaced soon. It's down to 1mm and they usually recommend replacement at 2mm.

The Subaru dealership quoted me $236.62 for parts and $240 for labor. So that's $476.62 + tax. I was just wondering if I can get a better price elsewhere and what should I expect to pay? And if I were to go w/ aftermarket brake pads, what brands would you guys recommend? How much do they cost?

I'm located in the Bay Area (East Bay), so any suggestions or places you would recommend would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

JB

Project Mu.

Project Mu makes really nice 2-piece front rotors for STi Brembos, or BBKs, and also great one-piece rotors for the front and back of WRXs with regular front brakes or even with the Subaru 4-pots.

You have a choice of slotted & dimpled, or just slotted.

Their best pads for agressive street & mixed track driving is their HC Titan KAI, and its replacement, the new LevelMax900 pads.

I don't have to warm up my brakes to get a good first stop, and by the time I'm down a twisty mountain, these things are stopping so hard its rediculous.

here's Project Mu's Homepage, in English:

Here's Mackin Industries' Homepage, their U.S. distributor:

Here's my thread I wrote 5k miles after install:

Once again, I picked it all up from Alex (Imprezer) at BOZZ ( www.bozzperformance.com )
