Does an exhaust void your warranty?
Does an exhaust void your warranty?
I'm sure mileage will vary depending on the dealership you go too. I'm looking at adding an uppipe and downpipe and was wondering if anyone had their warranty voided because of this.

A downpipe is grounds for denying certain things. If you have gearbox issues or major engine problems, they can rightly claim that the extra power you made caused or exacerbated the issue.

a search can find many experiences.
hopefully your dealer won't be a big jerk and void your suspension warranty for your exhaust. which they aren't supposed to do, but has happened to various people

If you have a major issue that would cost a lot to get fixed without warranty, just install your stock exhaust, in my opinion its worth the time if your gonna get whatever is wrong fixed
As a rule, modifications will only void warranty if the damage can be shown to possibly be a result of the modification. So exhaust mods would technicaly effect powertrain issues,(engine, trans, clutch, axles, etc....) In this day and age, few dealers will "ignore" these mods. They get hit in the pocket when SUBARU of America charges them back for warranty claims they have submitted for repairs to a "modified" car. This happens when the car ends up at another dealer for whatever reason, and the modification is reported to subaru. They then look into the cars history, and find what repairs had been made and who made them.
As for just swaping the stock exhaust in for dealer visits, be sure you use all the origional hardware. When the dealer can see it has been in and out they may report it.
