Will a Cat-back Exhaust and Cold Air Intake Void the Warranty?
I'm new to this new car stuff, I really haven't dealt with warrenties. I'm looking into buying a 04 WRX Wagon. I will have some money to do some upgrades like exhaust and Intake. Does anyone know if these mods will void the warranty?

The basic answer is.......yes, and no.
If the item causes a fault somewhere in the car, then it will not be covered....i.e. your cold air intake sucks water into the engine and um the engine blows up......tough luck.
But if you have an intake and exhaust, and your shifter breaks, or wheel bearing seizes.....they pay.
basically, unless you get something big (new turbo) you are pretty safe. The dealer needs to PROVE that the aftermarket part CAUSED the failure. If its a 50 dollar sensor, they will fix it- no question. If its a new tranny, they will put more effort.
P.S. One piece of advice, ask the dealer what they will allow. Some dealers will bend more than others. And, try to get it writing (good luck)

Thanks for the info Derbagley, yeah I thinking that I would have to go to the dealership and ask them.
Daredevil, "don't waste money on a intake" Looking at some dyno tests on intakes, a Subaru got i think it was around 13 hp to the wheels from that one mod, it was a XS engineering cold air intake. AEM is a better intake system so you can expect atleast 13 hp or more from the intake. So I still plan on getting a cold air intake, because it is a mod that adds some respectable gains, and still stays legal, at a good price.
Thanks,
Raymond

Well after doing research, and listening to everyone, a intake seems like not the best way to spend the money. So I plan on just doing the drop in filter thing and silcencer mod, and maybe use the extra money for an up pipe.
Thanks for the info

Catback wont void the warranty, intake will, uppipe probably will... I say silencer removal, catback, some stealthy black intercooler hoses and a lightweight pulley would be great mods to start with.

As you probably can see i'm a newbie with subaru's and turbo cars, I just have a civic hatchback I can't wait to get rid of in the next month or so.....what's "tbe"? And would the intercooler hoses do anything for performance wise? And do you know if pulleys will void the warrenty?
Thanks

Scroll to the bottom of the page when it loads and this will give show u what it is.
I spoke to dealer about the Exhaust system and he said the only thing it cant cover is the Rear O2 sensor if it goes bad. The Silicone hoses just let everything flow easier and the pulley's reduce the pressure off of the crankshaft due to most aftermarket ones being lighter than stock.

Also most aftermarket pulleys are underdriven (some too much so) for a few more horses freed up at higher rpm. I'm using the Vishnu main pulley and have seen no issues at idle with stock lights, a/c, and accessories on.

As for the intercooler hose, it replaces the hose under the top mounted intercooler which the stock one is rather restrictive. Gains are 5-10hp along with the turbo spooling a couple hundred RPM's sooner. (I learned this via seeing actual dyno charts in person, which surprised me probably as much as it is surprising you right now)
