That small center visor thingy above the rear-view mirror on WRXs is not for blocking the sun but to deflect the glare from the map lights when they are used.
Which is also why it flips the other way compared to regular sun visors.
It actually serves a purpose since WRXs have auto-dimming mirrors. When the map lights are used at night, that glare will offset our rear-view mirrors if we don't use the deflector.

I never knew that. At first I thought it was a visor, but it never worked.
Older Subarus have a little metal loop on the right side strut tower. You can pull out the hood prop, and put it there instead so that you can prop the hood up higher.

WRXes with factory security upgrade
If you lock all four doors manually, the alarm would not activate.
FYI, it will arm if you press the lock switch on the driver's door. You have to physically lock each door for this to work.

1. Disconnecting the battery is not the real way to reset the ecu. Last time I had a CEL I unplugged the battery overnight and still had the CEL the next day. This is because there are 4 levels to the ecu. Unplugging the battery only affects the 1st level. Tuner software ect can only access up to the 3rd level. And only SOA can access the 4th ecu level. The real way to reset is to use the official Subaru diagnostic computer which they have at the dealerships. How do I know this? I've been having problems with my car and a guy I know was helping me out at the dealership explained it all to me.
2. K&N or any other oiled filters are bad for Subarus. Over time the oil can build up on the MAF sensor and can collect in the throttle body. It's best to use the OEM filter or a foam filter... but they must be non oiled. OEM filter provides the correct amount of airflow and even though K&N does flow more its not the amount of flow your ecu is looking for. (What I mentioned has happened on my car and I still need it fixed)
3. Hose clamps work well to hold the muffler in case it likes to slip out of the Kartboy hangers like mine did, put them on the outside of the urethane hanger on the metal hanger of the muffler.
4. Best way to wash a Subaru for clean resuts. Rinse, soap, rinse, rinse with Mr Clean autodry (filtered water), pull car in garage, dry with microfiber towel... larger ones can be picked up at Kragen.
5. To avoid fingerprints. From the outside open door with the handle and shut while touching black strip across top of door. Close the trunk holding the innner latch... let go when trunk is most of the way down.
6. On 98-01 RS if you don't like the orange vent below the blinker pop it out with a taped up flathead scredriver and spraypaint flat black a few coats, easy solution.
7. OEM spare wheel weighs around 27lbs
8. For super clean widows after washing spray with Stoner Invisible Glass and wipe off with folded up newspaper.
