Lights Blinking on Alarm

On my 02 WRX, my lights would blink when the alarm was armed or disarmed, but when I bought the 03, after the 02 was totalled, the lights do not blink when the alarm is armed or disarmed. Is this something that is specific to this model year's alarm set-up?
I miss the subtle blinking, now i have to deal with the annoying horn chirp.

Are you sure you have the alarm option? Keyless entry is standard on the WRX but the alarm/security upgrade isn't. If you have keyless only the lights will not flash when locking/unlocking.

yes, i do have the security system upgrade. Is there a way to turn the lights on and off? I have located the "brain" of the alarm system in the middle console and was wondering if there is a switch or something to control the lights? If not, then I guess I will be making a trip to my local dealership!!

There is a way to turn the horn chirp on and off, the instructions should be on the back of your remote. I don't think that affects whether the lights flash however. Try turning the chirp off and see if the lights flash then, if not the alarm may have a problem.
Check your fuses, there may be one for just the security module. I don't recall for sure.

I have tried to turn the chirp on and off, but that does not do anything to the lights, so I think that I will go to the dealership this weekend and see what the dilly is?
