Please reccommend a sub and amp

I have an 04 with a JVC KD-SX9700 head unit and 6" Kenwood eXcelon dual mags in the front and 4" Boston Rallys in the back (I don't remember the exact models of the speakers). I'm looking for a very nice amp. Something that will really clean up the sound at lower volumes. 5 channel prefered (unless you guys suggest otherwise). And I'd like a good (not great) sub. I like some bass in my music but the last thing I want is to have it bumping annoyingly outside the car.

As far as price goes, I'm prepared to go up to around $700 for the amp and maybe around $300'ish for the sub. What can you guys reccommend as a good combo?

Also, I'm open to suggestions about having a multi amp and/or a multi sub setup. But it seems excessive to me. Thanks!

Check the recommendations on 5 channel amp post for the amps

Some of the good subs are Adire subs, JL Audio, Image Dyanamics, Elemental Designs, MB Quart, Infinity

What kind of advantage is there to running 2 seperate amps to power the sub and speakers as opposed to a single amp?

Then use a generic brand for the subs like Jensen's ($40-$100 on ebay). Jensen's a decent brand that can produce good enough bass. In all you'd get what you want for less than $700.
1200w RF for $250???? what model is that?

300 bucks is enough to get you a decent sub and box...maybe a JL 10 or 12W3 in a basic enclosure. That should be more than enough and sound decent. I would try to stick with subs from companies that have made a living building them....you'll be much happier.

for $700 you have a pretty wide range of options. You could go with a decent 5 channel, a 4 channel (2 channels running the front, 2 bridged for the sub, and the rears off deck power) or you could go with a 2 amp setup. The best decision requires a little more info such as what kind of sound you want, types of music listened to most, installation skills/complexity...and by the way what vehicle is this going into?
