stock ecu vs. s-squared tune remix

And you can switch between pre-tuned maps at home with the tuner without going back to the shop everytime right?

And yeah, you could probably get a tuner to make you a few maps and you'll be able to switch them with the handheld unit. Don't know what he'd charge for the custom maps, but I assume that he'd charge you dyno time (on top of the $1000 you already spent on AP/ST) and worst case scenario, probably an hour worth of dyno time per map (considering thats how long one map can take).

So if you went the route of the AT, you would spend $995 for the hardware, then you would probably have to pay a shop for dyno tuning time assuming you can find a shop that is up and running with the Cobb AT.
The other option is the Cobb Protuner that iirc is essentially like ECUTek, you pay a licensing fee at the shop performing the tune and you end up with a reflash. So you would ahve the one map in that case but if you added the the street tuner I think you may be able to switch maps, sort of like the delt dash for ECUTek?

ECUtek should have something like that out soon.

Also, ProTuner isn't out yet. There are supposedly some Beta copies floating around (like 4) but its not out yet. It should be out soon.
I believe ProTuner will be able to make maps for AccessPort, StreetTuner and possibly flash your ECU directly.
Until ProTuner comes out, you are going to have to buy AccessPort/StreetTuner if you want to get custom maps.

If you have the Ecutek PSI3 in dash monitor and access to user tune you can also set a secondary rev limiter map (along with the rest of the user tune options). It can be a lot of fun when you let a friend drive the car and limit them to 3,000rpm. It is also a useful feature if you ever valet park the car...

Personally, I couldn't give two ****s about map switching. I just want a faster car, not sometimes faster, faster when its hot, faster when its cold, etc... type maps. Just give me one, and if I can't eek out those last 5hp, oh well. My car is pretty heavy anyways.
