Sorry? This thread was started by Ego13 and I posted a direct reply to his original topic. How exactly am I soliciting business in your thread?

You're right...his thread.
My mistake.

I just assumed since I pay good money to sponsor the Region that there was an understanding.

I appreciate the responses and the info from everyone. Gonna try to be fairly active and learn quite a bit as I would, eventually, like to really be able to jump in there and understand what's going on with the tunes if not be able to safely adjust it (yes I realize the amount of research/time this may take).

My biggest issue, Paul, is that Cobb charges so much for a piece that isn't really all that necessary. On top of that I'm kinda looking at just opening it up just a little more to start until I get some of the mods done for stage 2 and get a bit more serious, it's kind of just a stepping stone to remove the overly conservative stock tune.

I wasn't aware that other paying vendors were not allowed to post in this Region. You have your own vendor forum and I wouldn't think about offering my services there. This is just a public regional forum, however. I always thought you were sponsoring it to support your local community, not to exclude potential competition and potential services being offered in the region.

If you were expecting otherwise, you should probably discuss this with the forum owners and set some clear rules on what your sponsorship means.

Thanks

So you hate on the poster for wanting to use opensource tune and basically tell him F.O., but you are sponsoring the region and nobody with a solution for him should chime into his post........

Isn't that sortuv against the whole point of the msg forum?

Obviously he is trying to explore his options, and all you have done is try to limit him to (your options), and have done absolutely nothing positive to help him.....

Edited to keep this civil so the posters thread is not ruined.

I never "hated" on the thread starter nor did I tell him to **** off.
I did provide Ego13 my opinion on what he wanted, offering him an alternative to a tuning method that I find irresponsible at best, detrimental to the engine at worst.

if an experienced tuner told me openECU tuning blows allot of motors id take that as advise not opinions... especially when he says that most of his motor work comes from such tunes. opinions are kinda like *******s (such as yourself), and SRiC is full up on both opinions and *******s so please avoid posting if you dont have anything legitimate to contribute.

so far.... your just spreading misinformation... probably due to the fact that you have no reading comprehension skills. anyone that actually read the thread would not have made such a pointless and misguided post as yours.

I do find it a little ironic that you don't like Opensource tunes but a ProTune is really just a specific open source tune done by someone with skill and knowledge.
Word of advice. I don't want to sound like a dick or anything but when you mod your car, you're going to have to pay to play if you know what I mean. So you decide to try opensource and let's say something happens. Do you have enough funds to cover any damages? Is this your only mode of transportation? I know we all try to save money here and there but if this car is your daily driver aka: the car that takes you to work aka: the car that takes you everywhere around town in, I would wait to save up and get it done professionally from someone who's studied this kinda stuff. Me personally I always assume worst case scenarios just because that prepares me mentally and financially.
Ya I could install things here and there but somethings you have to let the pro's take care of it. Now I'm not saying go here or try these but give someone who does it for a living a chance to do it.
If you needed surgery would you go see a doctor or ask one of your buddies to give you a hand over a weekend?
