I wouldm't have save too much to be honest, the only thing from the STI I would have used would be the drivetrain. The motor would have been replaced anyway.
Something else is that most of the parts have been on the car since before the STI was here, the car was running a GT30 and STI 6sp back in Feb 02.
Either way it's a lot of cash and I have always been stupid with modding cars so I can understand where your coming from

dont forget....we have 02's...so our cars might be paid off and faster than a stock Sti. The Sti owners have to worry about thier "warranty" (or wait til it runs out), also, they need to worry about the money they just dropped to get the car. So, the price they just paid + another 20k+ in mods would be a little hard to swallow...for most people.
So, for us it would be cheaper to fix up a car thats paid off, and looks better too lol hahahahahaha
ok I'm tired....going home now, before all the flames come out!!!

Hey guess what? I'm now running a 2.5 with a 4000 rpm redline and fuel cut at 4250 with a stock wrx turbo with an open wastegate and stock wrx intercooler. I now sport the STi RA gearset with the stock 3.9 final drive...what a car! Full boost, 7 psi, comes on very strongly by 2100 rpms. Amazing!

Well I guess a year without an update would be too long so....
The car is going to the fabricator next week for a full rollcage, it would seem that the car is destined for far more dangerous activities now and the Cusco death trap just wont cut it.
The saddle bag fuel tanks will be dropped upon it's return and a 16 gallon fuel safe pro cell is already here waiting to be put in.
The motor that was destined to be put to good use in the car (GT40r 38psi etc etc) is now going into someone elses car.
The new motor is a new development motor I have been asked to test, I can't release the specs until the testing is done but it should be a really decent affordable race block, not the near indestructable block I was building but a really good affordable race motor all the same.
The new use doesn't call for the all out power of the GT40r or even the currrent GT35r that was on the car so I will be stepping back down again to a GT30r.
I should have some more pics and an update a little later this month.
