Thanks brotha. Ive been checking around and the only 5mt's around are the same price as rebuilding my own. I'm even willing to buy one with grinds just to hold me over.

thanks dude. I heard from LIC that they can put LGT gears in the WRX 5mt transmission but didnt know if the actual transmission is a direct bolt-up. I'd be interested to know this as well as if the clutch is compatible etc etc. Any tuners wanna weigh in on this?

I'm about 95% done with securing a 2004 sti w/ 35k on he odo.
Should have a full 6mt swap by his weekend; trans, diff, hubs, axles, brembo brakes, etc.

Right that's for the 09 gears which is a bad *** option for the 5mt. I'm still a couple grand short on that job. Although a bit off topic, the question was, could a full legacy 5mt, complete case bolt right up? I don't have one, or a source for one but was wondering if they are compatible. Lastly, the new legacy gt has a 6mt. I know this will be pull vs push so some sort of conversion may be needed, but is the 6mt in the new legacy compatible or even the same as the sti 6mt?

2004!!!!! There's my unicorn haha... It will be gone by the time I have that kind of money. Wish I could jump on that. It would be perfect. Gimme a call or shoot a pm with pricing on that swap and I'll definitely see if we can work something out at all. Its an 04 so there are a few parts i wont need. I already have stoptech stage II brakes. It may come down to how long you can hold it. I certainly planned financially for emergencies, but having life throw so many curveballs at once pretty much took a toll. I cant stress to everyone to have a savings account and actually use it. If I didn't, I would literally be thousands in debt where right now I'm managing to stay afloat. God that was a few too many cheesy cliche's for one paragraph.

I don't have that mentality when it comes to credit cards. I use them with moderation and in case of emergency. The reality of it is no matter the circumstance, my car may have to stay down until I have the cash in hand. I'm curious if I can work something out on pauls 6mt from an 04 as that would require the least amount of parts to be purchased. I'd really like to install the transmission as a project with friends. My crew showed a lot of interest in helping out to help a brotha out, and also just to see the 6mt up close being installed.
Likewise however I am treating it as a zero interest loan with the principal due after 6 mos (minus min payments). I hear you about using credit cards as debit though.
That 04 will slide right in, and you can reuse those new wrx axles you picked up a while back if you use new seals and stubs for the front diff (100 ish from subaru). Your rear is a 3.54 so you'll need the r180, rear axles and driveshaft. You can reuse your flywheel clutch and slave if they're new with the sti clutch fork, otherwise use the sti parts only.
