MISSION: Get my bug eye back on the road.
Ouch!
Yeah man, times are hard right now but it will eventually get better, just keep track of your health cause that's the most important thing for you and your family. Cars are just cars right? No need to stress about these material things just focus on what's a head of you and enjoy life.
If you need a tranny I have a spare 07 bare used sti tranny never installed that I bought a while back for $3K hanging around my other house just in case my tranny lets go, you just need some front axles, fork, shift linkage, and etc. Maybe an automatic drive shaft or a r180 flange with sti drive shaft too keep your rear diff and axles(rear end). I wasn't planning to sell it but maybe I can hook it up cheaper than what I paid for it if you can't find a 5mt as a last resort.
Regards,
Ron

Hey Ron,
I appreciate the words. The 5mt is to hold me over until tax season at which time I will pay competitive price for a 6mt. We should talk then if you've stil got it but please don't undercut your 6MT for anything. They are worth their price. A few hundy for a weathered 5mt vs a few grand for a 6mt is a huge difference so a 6mt just isn't doable at the moment. Champion offer though man!! Good karma!!

Wasn't trying to come off as rude, I know when we talked at EQ you were having a lot of problems all at once which never makes it easy. Is it your DD atm or could you survive by letting it sit til tax season? I know you're eager to drive it you looked like a kid on Christmas when you saw it hah.

Definitely get a 6 speed, it's a sure thing.
Just get better man, I've had my share of misfortunes, some worse than others, but that's life.
Take it easy and good luck with the find.

Ron

Nope... Car is good. I knew the transmission was on the way out so I've been taking it easy to prolong it as long as I could. It had a 1st gear grind and also a 3rd to 4th grind when the tranny was hot. I was in sf city traffic and when taking off kinda slowly from a light 1st gear just let go.
