. How was today's ride?I don't know how it's possible, but I think we climbed all damn morning.
We'll have to ride Saturday next week because Randy & Lance are busy Sunday. If it doesn't rain this week, I'd like to hit Olmstead before the rcaers ruin it in a couple of weeks.
Glad to hear you're okay. We checked for skin and blood samples at the jump.

Oh yeah, we did:
Stagecoach to Upper Stagecoach to Flood to Mossy Rock, back down Stagecoach to the confluence. Then we climbed Clementine and did Fuel Break to Culvert to Continental Divide (or whatever the rocky cliffside is called).
12 miles and I think 9 of those were uphill.

I fell off the trail again, this time at Mossy Rock. Got kinda scratched up, but got really lucky I didn't hit my head or break my arm. Fell right in-between two pretty good sized rocks.
I ruined another tire (rear sidewall cut due to sharp objects). Is it pretty much that if you get a cut in the sidewall the tire is toast??? Or is there some kinda half-assed fix you can attempt? I have some spare tires now but just hate to throw away a pretty good tire with plenty of meat left.

If you waste the sidewall the tire is done. You can do some tricks to get you off the trail (like using a folded up dollar bill to cover the cut area in order to keep your tube from balooning through the hole) but after the ride you should replace it. Glad to hear you're ok - and it's interesting to hear what you had to say about the jump. I felt like the lip was a bit more pronounced and I flew in a similar fashion, though obviously I went up and to the right
.
I'd be down with Olmstead next week for sure. Saturday should be fine - I will see if my neighbor Joe wants to go. He wanted to ride that day and we were going to road it if there was no mtb action going on. Mike - you interested in maybe riding Sunday as well :wiggle:? If my shoulder is ok come Thursday, I should be good to ride both days, though I'll need to meet a bit early on Sunday (9-10).

Bike is in the shop awaiting fork and headset install. I may have to ride the rigid next weekend though.
They weren't sure if they could get it done in time.

hey guys I just stubmled across this thread and just so happen to be a bick shop mechanic (10+ years experience) and an avid road/mtn biker. I've got a trek 2300 road bike and a giant warp freeride bike that I converted to ss and slick tires for a dialy commuter.

Bike in Shop = 2/19/07
Estimate on return = maybe 2/23/07, but most likely 2/26/07
Actual return = 2/20/07
Apparently Mr. Scott runs the service department at Bicycles Plus.

I'm on a borrowed stem to see if I like it (100mm as opposed to my old 130mm). They also gave me 40mm of stack height to see how that fits. Once we find the sweet spot, I'll go with that height and cut the steerer tube down.
I also switched to riser bars. That is going to take some getting used to. They are a lot wider than my old bars. In fact, I will probably cut them down a bit. There's no way I'll fit through those gate posts on Clementine this way.
I'm going to put the front brake on tomorrow night and then I'm good to go.
