Since we were planning on going a ways out anyway, what about Tam, Annadel or Rockville? Tam and Annadel are about as far as HITG, just in the other direction.

Randy also rode S. Yuba few weeks ago and it had no snow we could do that. I'm trying to grab some rides off MotionBased but their site is having some issues. I'll look for a good route at Annadel (I found the route they rode this weekend for MBTB 9) and a good S. Yuba route that is easier to follow than th map on the The Fish's website.

Here's the Annadel ride: http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/2841265

20 miles, 2860ft of climbing.

The elevation profile looks like there's some FUN downhills - max descent grade was 82%

Here's a S. Yuba ride from an mtbr member named brainstump. He's a cool guy (I've pmd with him in the past).

http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/2841265

20 miles, 3700 ft of climbing Looks like there's one really gnarly climb.

I think his GPS was freaking out though - says a max ascent grade of 188%, so he was riding upside down or something. Dude has skills!

Here's a Mt. Tam ride: http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/1417539

That's an assload of climbing, but takes you to the top. Egan, did you have a route that you used to like riding? What is it like/

Yes, it is almost my backyard. I have also hiked in that area. I'm not sure I know the trail they are talking about. It is a very beautiful area and should be really challenging to ride. It might be to challenging.

I really liked S. Yuba when I rode it. I think it would be best to do it as and out and back. There are some technical spots there too, but there is also a lot of really nice single track with some great views. I went down the climb they are talking about. It would be a really tough climb, but I think there was another trail that went on up the river instead. Also the start of the big climb is a fairly good way into the ride and we might be ready to start back by then anyway.

Do you guys have any experience with this product:

SweatVac Ventilator Cap

I am having a huge problem with sweat while we're riding. Specifically, it always runs down in to my left eye. Some of the guys on the road weenie forum are saying these work great. What say you?

The loop I do is to the north of that. If you zoom in on the map, you'll see Phoenix Lake and Lake Lagunitas. I park in Fairfax, climb up to Lake Lagunitas, then loop around the lake and climb the backside of Mt. Tam. There's a number of ways back down, but I usually end up at Phoenix Lake and then it's a short fire road back to the car. We might be able to combine my route and his.

Don't expect any singletrack though. Almost all singletrack in Marin is off limits.

I was there last weekend on the opposite side of Spring Lake for a BBQ. The parking lot was a nightmare. I'd definitely like to do that ride, but I'd prefer Rockville or maybe even S. Yuba this coming weekend.

I tried Tam once but didn't make it up. Went about 3/4 the way up; never saw DH. My friend Kev was riding circles around me the whole way up trying to get me up the hill.

Worth a try. I just know that when I use a bandana it soaks up hella sweat but is not very cool (as in chill with air flow). Anything to keep the sweat out of the eyes is golden in my book.

Ended up riding Clementine>Culvert>Confluance today (9:am) with my brother-in-law (BIL). I knew I was up for a long day when I had to remind him to bring his helmet. He was riding his hard-tail, which hadn't seen dirt in about 2 years. But anyway he's a champ and made the entire climb up without stopping. The DH was cool and we meet up with another guy on a Yeti who lived in Sac and was really cool. He rode the DH with us and had fun. BIL did fine on the DH just slow since he was on the HT and haden't done any riding in a long time. He said after the ride "I thought we were just going on some flat loop "
