I rode Connector and FHLT today. For some reason during the ride I kept worrying having a head on with another rider. I was very conservative in all the blind turns because of this feeling.

I'm a 1/2 mile from the end and I see a bunch of riders coming toward me. I can tell that they are all low level riders because they going pretty slow and most of them are riding crappy bikes with reflectors on the wheels. I slow to a walking speed and pull over as far to the right as I can without sliding off the side of the hill. None of them budge an inch out of the middle of the trail. About the 5th person back is a heavy woman. Just as she gets to me she goes "oh" or something like that and swerves toward me and smacks my arm pretty hard with her handle bar. That hurt you stupid *&^$#+&*. At least the rest of the ride was fun.

You should have turned around, followed her and then buzzed her tire a few times to see if she liked that...

Sorry, Randy. Thankfully you aren't chunky, she might have used you as a trail-snack.

Soooo, what do we want to do this weekend ride-wise? I can only ride Saturday, and it looks like we might get some rain Friday night or Saturday. Does this change what we might want to do? I'm fine with riding in the rain - I'll pack my base layer and my rain cover just in case

Edit: was thinking about participating in this ride: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=464155

I may or may not purchase a costume

Oh, wanted to share, I'm no longer a 'clyde'. I hopped on the scale this morning: 197.8 lbs I haven't been under 200 since 2001

I'm probably not up for BB's ride. I'm not excided about riding in town in possible rain and then riding trails with a guy I can't begin to keep up with.

If we get rain, Olmstead won't be dusty any more. I'm not saying we have to ride there, I'm just saying that after rain it can be back on the list of trials to ride.

I do want to ride somewhere this weekend, even if it rains. If it does rain, we will have traction again!

Well what would you guys like to do? If it rains I really don't want to do Olmstead. I'm just getting my bike working well and I don't want to cake every open area with that Olmstead mud.

I've been wanting to have another go at Manzanita, since we only did it that once and I was on a hard tail (ew). I'm flexible so let me know

Olmstead won't be bad until we get a lot of rain. For a while, it just gets absorbed into the soil. I've only seen it really bad is that one death ride we had there a couple of years ago.

Manzanita would be good. If it's raining, I wouldn't want to do a real long ride. I guess we can vary the length according to the weather. When and where do you want to meet?

I'm glad to hear you are coming too Nelson. Lance?

Guess you didn't hear...I had hip surgery so I'm going nowhere for about 3 months min! That's why I wanted people to go to Downieville that one weekend, but I knew you probably wouldn't want to hit it due to the "DH nature" of the "Classic" ride...but you gotta do some riding up there one of these days Randy...plenty of up hill for
you with some sweet single track down hill. If you can get there before the snow comes I'd hit quick!

Bummer Lance. I heard something about surgery, but I didn't know it was that bad. I'm very sorry.

I guess I do need to do D'ville sometime. I also keep hearing Bullard's Bar is great.

Serious later, this time just arthroscopic, but the recovery to fully ride is 3month...we'll see how it goes after a month...good thing winter is coming up...I won't feel so bad about not mountain biking...but snowboarding on the otherhand is pretty much shot till April and by that time...time for mountain biking again!!!!

I actually wouldn't mind just going to GB on Saturday.

Working on getting a shuttle day together for Sunday if anyone is interested. Two of us confirmed, with others pending. Trying to figure out how to do the Culvert side and the Cool side.
