Yeah, Randy, Specialized actually has a tool at shops that it calls the ***-o-Meter. It measures the width, and then you can pick a saddle that corresponds to your measurements.
BTW - I can't ride Saturday. I have some meetings for my classes I have to go to. Sunday is a maybe on the trail work for me. I told Bert I wanted to come up but then remembered I already told my wife we'd go hiking. I'll have to see what she says.

The brake clip that got all bent up is the clip that keeps the pads apart. I bought new brake pads and they come with a new clip. The old pads were pretty worn and the clip gouged them when it self destructed. The new brakes are installed and work but so far they squeak a little.
I traded in the Shadow V test saddle for a Laser V. I test rode it a little late this afternoon. It's lots different than my other saddles so it took some fiddling to get it close on the angles and stuff. It's a bit shorter than the other saddles and I'll be interested to see how it does on the super steep climbs when you want to sit on the nose of the saddle to keep the front wheel down.
I'm sorry you can't ride Saturday Matt. I hope you can make the work party, but as we've said before, wives come first. I do plan on going to the work party. I'll also probably ride Saturday somewhere if anyone else can ride.

I'm going to ride Connector and FHLT tomorrow if anybody is interested. Since I don't like cold and the low is suppose to be around 40, I want to start late. Like maybe 11:00.

No problem Matt. We will aim for next weekend.
I like the test Laser V saddle better than the Shadow V. I did some adjusting on it yesterday after a ride Thursday. I hope if feels perfect today.
Bert and I did two laps of FHLT Thursday. One in each direction. We wanted to see what the trail changes were like going the other way. It's different, but it doesn't seem as pronounced as going the normal direction.

It looks like I will be riding all by my little self.
That's ok. I will probably spend time fiddling with the saddle and you guys wouldn't want to wait on me anyway.
My wife just pointed out that we are suppose to take a trip next weekend. It looks like I won't be riding next weekend after all.

It felt like I was riding with Kamikaze riders yesterday on the Connector. First I see three guys coming toward me so I move to the right as far as I can and slow down. Rider #1 finally sees me about 10 feet away and swerves toward me!
He goes back to his right just before he gets to me and misses me by a couple of inches. Rider #2 is ok but rider #3 does the exact same thing as #1! A little later I see two more guys coming toward me. I move over absolutely as far to the right as I can without hitting the side of the hill with my pedal and come to an almost complete stop. The first rider finally moves out of the center of the trail by about 5 inches and just misses me. The second rider doesn't move out of the center at all and runs into me and knocks me over!
His handle bar smacked my knuckles a bit but other than that I'm ok.

Randy - did you end up working with FATRAC today? Sorry I didn't make it up - I was out late last night and had school stuff to do today. I did fit in a ride for a couple hours. I wish to share this picture.
In it you can see my new jersey.

No but I felt like it. He apologized and stuff, but he like several others on the Connector were just riding with their heads up where the sun doesn't shine. It was pretty oblivious that he was going to hit me. I can't understand why he couldn't take some sort of corrective action. Just stupid I guess.
Uh, Matt. I'm pretty sure I don't want to know what you were doing in that picture. What tha.....??

Matt, I knew you had school stuff so I didn't expect you. As for the FATRAC work party, it was ok. Bert was there but he and I ended up in different groups. There were a bunch of people there, but I ended up with a few guys I didn't know and wasn't that crazy about. The guy that did the tight section was there and he likes to ride slalom style. He thinks that section is great and I guess it matches his bike and style. I still think it's to tight and I don't like it. They put in some small tree branches to make people go the S stuff instead of going straight. I might go up there this week and pull some of that stuff away. People ride in different styles and with different types of bikes and I think there should be options for which line you want to take.
Bert bought a new bike today and we are going for a ride Tuesday.

A bell would not have done this idiot any good. He saw me in plenty of time. He just couldn't control his bike well enough to keep from hitting me. All he had to do was move to his right a few inches and he would have missed me. I guess a small WMD is the only choice. I wonder where you can get a small handlebar mounted one?
