A house? Foo you're hella young! Wise thinking tho lol
I drove around with a 3in full straight pipe and a catless dp for several months, no plate either LOL not a single problem.
Actually come to think of it I did get pulled over twice with the straight pipe on for different reasons (rolling stop signs) and the exhaust was never even mentioned!

Consider yourselves lucky. Running a catted dp and a Blitz Nur-Spec I've gotten 3 tickets for exhaust. 2 were solely based on exhaust noise and not for anything else. The last time it was a CHP on the freeway and the chick went through the checklist. Pop the hood and looked. The nice thing about the catted dp, she looked, saw the cat and moved on to other things. And believe me, she went to the passenger side and looked down at the dp.
Ha I got pulled over by a cop who owned an sti. He was asking all about my plans for my car and what not. I haven't had a problem with them noticing or smelling the castles, but Im sure some cops do

I've been pulled over twice for my exhaust.... maybe 3 times.
I'll be staying with a catted DP because cat less really doesn't make that big of a difference. I'd rather not get ref'd or have to change parts to smog.

Yeah I wish I had bought a chatted but don't want to spend the money on one. It is a pain in the assnthe change for smog though. I'm hopefully smogging my car this afternoon and then get to change mine out again
You have to change back to stock DP for smog regardless of cat or catless. If it doesnt look OEM im pretty sure its a fail.

Generally what they're going to do is look for a cat and make sure the o2 sensors are plugged in. That's what the check offs require.
So if you're running something like a perrin or a mad dad dual catted DP with the correct o2 sensor locations I really don't think you'll get failed for that.
I passed with an sti up pipe and my port polished and coated manifold that is clearly not stock. You can see the cross pipe easy.
And most cars are gonna pass sniffer with 1 cat let alone 2.

Btw a ref ticket is still over $400 even if you get it fixed. They changed the law in Aug or something. Fixing it and going to the bar won't drop it down like it use too
