I just watched this movie on Netflix called born to race it's about a 2004 Subaru owning bunch of v8's in a drag strip

 

Tuning newbie. what if you dont know the exact parts in your car when you go to get tuned? I know I have a hybrid setup but i dont know if I have any built strong aftermarket parts in the engine or if its all OEM stuff. I also feel like id get **** for my transmission, I feel like second gear is so worn, if I let off the gas it jerks a bit....hopefully get everything fixed up proper before a tune though.

When I eventually take it to a shop to get it all tiddied up what should I specifically ask to have done? Just a complete car inspection or what? I know I need to ask for a vacuum leak test for sure.

 

It's funny how everyone gets a turboback and needs to go running to a tuner. I guess it's easier now. When I got my turboback, the only option was a Utec, I wasn't touching that thing. I ran on the stock tune with a turboback and MBC. Was the car faster, yea, could it have been better, sure. But there wasn't many options in 2003. Hell I ran a VF30 with stock injectors just with the boost turned down.

I'm sure you just have a 2.5 wrx motor in your car like my brothers wrx..... Call your tuner and tell them your situation.. It's the only way you'll know if they can tune your car... Lol don't do what Kyle and drake did.. Drive to Fairfield and get told they have blown turbo's...

 

Blown turbo? I went to fairfeild to tour the Budweiser factory

Oh and I had a lot of conversations with Ed prior to my trip about my mods... The blown turbo was just bad luck

 

I just watched it. Funny that they "let" the cars run that fast without demanding they have roll cages which the NHRA would mandate for going that fast.

It's not a bad movie. Think, Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift, but with an STi and he never leaves the state.

Lives with mom, wrecks into a cop during street race, has to go live with Dad, meets girl, battles popular racer. Typical story, but they had the cars going into the 10's without any rollcages in the cars.

 

DAD: "Son what are you working on"
Son: "Turbo swap and tune, nothing big"
