Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Need Help with CEL P0302

I had the CEL read and it is P0302 which is a detected misfire on cylinder #2. I have already replaced the spark plugs and tested and inspected the plug wires. I am suspecting that the main coil pack is bad but do not want to shell out $200 at this time in the event that is not the problem. My question is there anything else anyone can think of before I dive into replacing the coil pack?

Car info:
2001 Impreza 2.5RS (coupe)
Ganz Intake
axle back exhaust

Jess, what are your plugs gapped at? the wrong gapping could result in misfire i've been told.

try cleaning the injectors using seafoam and use fuel injection cleaner for your gas tank

no other mods, right?

well check the gap on the plugs and they were within tolerance according to the service manual. unfortunately the problem still exist.....but I did learn something. it turns out the the CEL only come on when i run the air conditioner, it seems like when the ac compressor kicks on it adds an extra load and the car feels and sounds like its stumbling. i think this is where and when the miss fire happens.

now with the ac off i can still feel a subtle stumble on the engine but no CEL comes on for a miss fire.

any thoughts

Jess
