A month ago my cel light came on (02 wrx wagon 5 sp), took it to a mechanic and the codes listed above appeared. Even though I had recently (9k miles ago) had my 60k tune-up, he suggested changing the spark plugs again. Well the cel came back on and I can't afford any more misdiagnosis. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0303 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected

If it isn't the spark plugs, I would guess its with the coil pack or ignition wires.

 

thanks- Also, my gas mileage has significantly dropped. Subaru in Cinci said it probably was the poor air quality ( i just moved here last summer), but i thought it might be because of this problem. Last tank got less than 20mpg on mostly highway driving and I don't drive it hard. Any more ideas??

 

Did they put the right kind of spark plugs when you brought it in? Maybe they aren't and that's why you're throwing CELs.

the only mod done is a drop in K&N filter and yes, the spark plugs were the right ones.
