dude just use the oem filters, they are better than anything else out there, someone recently did a test between them and a bunch of other filters, and the oem ones work better.

dino oil just means conventional oil.

use some good stuff like kendall until you're ready for synthetic oil, around 7-8k miles, then go with Redline 10W40, its roxors.

OEM oil filter. There's a sticky in this forum on oil filters which you should read through when you get a chance.

As for oil, there are a few comparisons between dino and synthetic on the intarweb which you can find through your favorite search engine. I personally haven't found any data to justify spending the extra $ for the synthetic stuff. YMMV.

5W-30 dino with OEM filter.
'05 12.5K miles.

I like synthetic for extended mileage between oil changes but I'm not doing that and will stick with dino and the recomended 3750 mile oil interval.

i've used royal purple, mobile 1 and amsoil. i change every 3,000- so for me it doesn't really matter. i still burn a little under a quart. my STi has 18000 miles that are very hard miles. in my wifes wrx i change the (mobil1) oil every 6,000 (i check every 2000 miles)

i'm wasting my money on synthetic the way i change it. i use synthetic just for peace of mind i guess. i know i'd do fine with dino oil since i chane oil like mad man

Yes, 4.8 qts. just like the WRX. And as BANSUVS said, DINO oil = dinosaur oil = regular old oil that comes from decompsing dinosaurs in the ground.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-30 dino with OEM filter in my '05 STi.
Why?
'Cause I'm not a cheap bastard like Egan.

Car burns about 1 - 1.5 quarts between oil changes; my only complaint with the car.
