oil loss
Hey was wondering if i got a bum motor or is this normal? i have 2800 miles on my 05 STi and i checked the oil today and noticed it was a little more than half a quart low???? is this normal for the motor since it's just breaking in? Does anyone else have to top off there's between oil changes?

If you're burning oil, they should give you a compression check under warranty just to be sure, but at this point I wouldn't worry. Less than a quart between oil changes isn't a problem.

Too much oil loss
I have an 04 STI with about 15k. In the last 3000 miles I have had to add 3 quarts!? I have no leaks and I do not notice any white, black, or blue smoke. I did notice a little oil dusted on my intake hoses but none sitting in my fmic. If any one has any info, please help. -Confused?

Using a good synthetic oil should help a little as they are far more resistant to heat. You will still loose some, but not as much. I know that a lot of people advise against it, but I have always used slightly heaver oils in all of my turbo cars. I have had three of them now, and it seems to protect the engine a little better. I never use anything lighter than 5w-40. Castrol Syntec has a really good 5w-50.
