I reset the ECU, and after a day of driving its pretty much back to normal. I guess the ECU needed to re-learn with the new part.

I found out some interesting news today about the intake. So when i thought it was getting better i got a CEL this morning. I took it to the dealer and they said it had mis-fires on 1,3, & 4. He put in the stock air box and the problem went away and the car ran normally. He called Subaru tech-line and they said that there is a known problem with that intake and STI's and there is no fix for it yet. But the Dealership was nice enough to take the part back and refund my money. And now I'm back to stock and everything runs normally but doesn't sound as good as the intake......I guess I'll go look at a downpipe instead.

i have apexi and no problem at all.

there is one thing about the car's MAF. because it happened to few subarus i know. when you unplug the MAF and put it back in. there are 1 or 2 PINs in the MAF is bend down. cause the check engine light and cruise control flashing. unplug your MAF sensor and take a look at the PINs if is bend just use a screw driver to bend it back. it should be ok.

In the offical SPT book, if you use the SPT intake with the heat shield and a SPT exhaust you should increase about 25 HP on an STI.

Believe it or Not??????

Prodrive Intake = sweet sound with no problems.
Subarus with their kooky MAF you need to do your homework and get an intake that is by companies that know Subarus inside and out not a shop that tosses together a kit of bent pipes with a filter on the end for good measure.

Prodrive, SPT, Cobb, and Perrin are companies I trust.

Here is a million dollar question. Has anyone actually put their ride on a dino with a SPT intake and etc.? Does anyone that works for Subaru actually know that its worth $200 for anything other than sound?? Does it require a signature from my best friends mother's roomates cousin's handicapped jewish sister??? inquiring minds maybe don't want to know?

Okay, maybe I don't need those signatures, but all this chat about intakes might actually end if a reputable person were to do a dino pull with an SPT intake and heatshield and cat back. Subaru claims, in their SPT catalog, free shipping, that an 05 STI gains 25 HP with these mods. Wow, if I could mod like that and actually obtain those "real" type of gains that would out of this world!!! or Maybe I need to talk with my therapist about things that aren't real that I wish were real, like the pocket fisherman.

That's a very valid point. And it is worth looking into. One thing that can be said in the SPT defence until a dyno chart comes up is this: The SPT intake won't give you a check engine light.

True the spt won't give you a cel, but the stock air box is sort of a cold air intake, so is $200 plus the $80 heatshield worth that cool wooshing sound?

I've had it, I'm going to contact Subaru and ask them to send me data on the use of their SPT short ram intake. I'll let you know what they tell me.

Peace out!

I personally hated the sound and took it off after a week. Sometimes I just need quiet and with it in, there was never a quiet moment. SOB was always sucking like a ****...

The 25hp that they claim is in addition to the SPT exhaust, no?

I have a 2004 STi with a Cobb tbe, and I have had great results from adding the SPT intake and shield. It has more power everywhere and runs better at all rpm; now it cruises nicely at 1500 rpm in 6th gear. The Subaru brochure I have claims 45hp on 2004-2006 STis from the intake, shield, and muffler. Subaru's magazine had a good article on the package including dyno charts showing 30whp on a 2007 STI. I am totally satisfied after thousands of miles.
