Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

They will change the sound. Unequal lenght headers will just make it a little louder, but you will still have the boxer rumble. If you get equal length headers then your car will sound like a honda. I've had both unequal and equal length on my car. Im willing to sacrifice a couple of horses rather than sound like a honda.

Before you make a decision on buying a header read this tech article on Cobb's web site, it changed my mind about running a header on my 02'

Get your stock headers PnP'ed and coated for 200 from crucial racing.

Well cobb tuning seem to disagree with Gruppe-s. Gruppe-s sell in-house headers that claim to develop good, dyno-proven horsepower gains...especially on tuned cars.

I don't have them but a lot a people seem to like them a lot.

Not again...

Read this. And if anyone ever says that equal length manifold makes your Subaru sound like honda, I will strangle them with a used timing belt...

What I gatherd form the Cobb site was that headers can make good power it is the heat loss before the turbo that is the main concern. If the gasses cool down the turbo lag time goes up. As the gasses cool they slow down. They also said they had so real gains by going to a header over the stock manifold. I supose if you wrapped the header it would keep the heat in better but would also cause alot over excess heat in tubing which might weaken the metal, and I said might so dont flame me about how a header will hold up to anything. I have seen good headers crack and deform from being wrapped. I am not saying I would never buy a header it just made me think twice about spending the money there insted of buying like an AP or injectors and f/pump or somthing else around the price of a quality header.

Headers make power. Wrapped headers make even more power. Headers can be used to tweak your powerband, by selecting the type you need. Thats the bottom line.

When I installed my equal length headers I seemed to have a huge hp gain. The noise does sound like a honda, which really sucks. Now that the car is tuned I think headers made a big difference. Thats just my opinion
