Boxer exhaust note
Ok so I have a 2.5RS w/ and sti short block, and FAT stage 3 turbo kit.. My exhaust sounds nothing like a wrx, and I am dissapointed.. Why do wrx'x have that "boxer" sound? is it because they have different headers? of because they are DOHC? I just wanted to know!

hmm. are you really trying to get the WRX sound? it's not "that" great. i think it sounds nice only after 5K.
sorta like a big *** american muscle car though. kinda cool.
i'll ask a friend about this and get back to you.

Yeah its the headers. With even piping there is a stead flow of exhaust as it comes together for the uppipe. This is because each of the four pipes that are merging take turns in a way adding exhaust. When the pipes are uneven then the timing for this is thrown off and you get times where two exhausts are merging and times where there is none. This seems bad, but I've been told it really only affect the sound of the exhaust and not the performance.
Hope that clears things up.
