exhaust note relative to engine tuning (was: Boxer Burble)

Boxer Burble

You have to love that sweet boxer burble under load.
Please provide feedback as to how this sound can be enhanced.

I have a turbo back with one cat and catless uppipe with Stromung exhaust.
The car sounded so good I would find myself rolling down the windows to listen to the sound under full acceleration. Sounds great up to about 4000 RPM.
I was using the xede piggy back with this setup.
I have since changed over to a Cobb AP setup but have lost the terrific sound. I have made no intake or exhaust changes.
Would changing the amount of timing advance change the sound this much?

Exhaust sound becomes louder when engine output is greater with no other changes to exhaust system. This will occur whether the engine output increased because of tuning or increased displacement with the same exhaust (more air in, more air out). Are you using a Cobb base map for your mods? Was the XEDE map a base map or custom tune?

If your car runs better with the AccessPORT, don't mess with timing or fueling just to recover that exhaust sound unless you get a custom tune.

Boxer Burble

I am running the base Stage 2 93 Octane AP map.
I was running a custom tune done at Vishnu.

I was going to get a custom tune on this setup, but Christian at Cobb is working on a 16g base map and I would like to go with a bigger turbo and a protune with a 16g.

DONT install an equal length header if you want to keep the boxer engine tone. It will kill it (the "burble") almost completely. Its the only thing that keeps me from getting one!

Going through tunnels with the windows down under full accel ..... yeah.

I currently have a stromung rear muffler
Which one would give more of a bark without droning on the highway?
