boost loss

i am having a problem with my boost pressure. When i go up to 7000 rpms the boost goes up to 12 psi where i have the manual controller set but then it falls down to 9 psi. I just recently had the intercooler off to try an put in an uppipe which i could not do myself. I also took off my hks ssqv bov and put on the stocker for performance. The only other thing i have done in the mean time was put on a speedmonkey heat shield. can anyone tell me where to look to get rid of this problem

Try removing the manual boost controller. Usually when people add a boost controller and mess with some settings, things go a bit wrong.

i have had the mbc on for about 10 months and nothing has ever gone wrong with it. i think it might be the stock diverter valve. it blows pretty loud even when i am just reving the car in neutral. I think the valve might be stuck open or something. However i dont know cause i am new at this kind of thing but i am a do it yourselfer. I think once i get the car off the jacks (doing brake mods since yesterday) i am going to put the hks bov back on and see if it fixes the problem. It may also be the crappy 40 dollar boost gauge i got on ebay. can somebody tell me what kind of new gauges to buy that are good for the money?

Bet you have a boost leak from that Uppipe install...did you remove any exhaust parts or just stop after you got the IC off?

i never took off any of the exhaust parts so that isnt it. I just stopped after i got the intercooler off and the heatshields. I would hear the exhaust leak from what people say, when i get my car down i am going to drive it around and see how the car feels and listen for any wierd noises. I searched around this site and did not find much about boost leaks that made no noise so if i dont feel or hear anything then it must be a faulty gauge.
