STI or EVO (another debate thread...)
first of all, it's cool to see people being HONEST. for example, wrx/sti owners who give props to evos. I am getting a rex next year and hands down, i will never deny that an evo is better.
the talk about the evo's turbo being near maxed is not true at all.
and lastly, the person who said that the 4g63 in the evo is just "an eclipse engine" and that the evo is just an eclipse for 25,000 --- p l e a s e
don't get me wrong though, the rex, the sti and the evo are all great cars. but.......
the SUPRA OWNS
hahahahhaah what a way to end it

I think the EVO is a great car. Us AWD turbo guys seem to team up. But, I think that making more power with less boost is a better sinereo than how mitsu is looking at things. Also, I am American so I love torque. This also comes from a turbo Buick owner running 22psi.

just opinion...If you are looking for power, I know for sure a stock sti is quite a bit quicker than the evo. I go up to infineon raceway, and most all of the evo's are only doing above 13.5's even with exhaust. I am the only stock sti up there, with just exhaust, and I am clocking 13.2's. Maybe I am just lucky, but all of the stock evo's up there aren't doing to well on the quarter. As far as handling, sounds like most of the other guys know more about that. Both with upgrades, I'm not sure how they will perform. Best of luck with your choice!

IMO EVO > STi
Yes, I still love subaru's, but if given a chance, i would take the EVO over the STi in a heartbeat. Though, if i were given a choice of EVO's I would take a JDM or EDM EVO IV.

more power with less boost but more displacement. 2.5 vs 2.0. 19.5 is maxxed out on stock turbo? ok might want to check out some sites before you make a say things like that. 13.5 modded please ive seen EVO's and STI's at the track trap 14+ in th 1/4. most places that test both cars get very similar times. i know the STI would be faster if you didnt have to shift into 5th at the end of the 1/4 but you do.
worried about damage with turning up the boost? evo's have already made 500 whp on stock internals.

I have never ever, in my life, not had a subaru (weather i own one, or my parents owned them as i was growing up) but, I would still take the EVO.
I still have love for subaru's, but IMO, the EVO is a better car.

As the man said years ago, "A difference of opinion is what makes horse (car) races!" I love my '02 WRX, and I have seen and "played" with EVO's on some nice roads. I guess the EVO driver was a bit chicken, but I took him in some twisties, but he had more than I could do on the straight. (225hp vs 300) Horse win (most) every time. Besides, mine is paid for and has a few dings. It's every day on the road. I do agree with the writer (above) who likes the sound of the boxer better that the straight 4: it sounds like POWER instead of pi--ed off bees.
Anyway, put your money where your mouth is and have fun. (I can also load a lot of c--p in my l'l wagon and still tool on down the road.

do you have a fmic? and do you want it to look like evo vent or would a reverse scoop work?
