i think bottom line, if you have watched best motoring final battle impreza vs. lancer. they make very good key points

1. Evo is more computers than STi is more mechanical
2. STi has more comfort built in and reliabilty
3. Evo doesnt
4. Subaru are built more power
5. Subaru's are symetrically built car, with the engine more towards the center for better overall balance.
6. Evo crap
and the list can go on....

hey you guys think I am subaru bias?

fmic? I'm not cool enough to understand the acronym. But my STi is stock (minus all the stickers/emblems and the wing.) So, I'm guessing I don't have one.

The Evo has an intercooler and more boost with the stock turbo though. So I imagine that the airflow throught the vents is plenty good for those purposes.

This is my first WRX (my fourth Subaru) and I've only had it since october, so I don't know much about high performance equipment, so pardon my ignorance.

I just prefer the speed without the flash, so I'd like to lose the scoop.

Thanks for the info. Sorry for going off topic.

BTW, I've driven the Evo and I think it feels lighter, both in terms of nimbleness and in cheapness (thus good and bad.) I love the STi, but you must take into account that I'm an ex muscle car driver, so I like the heaviness and torque of the STi over the Evo's handling.

Both would beat the stuffing out of my old 400HP Buick Regal (yes, there is such a thing -- when you put an LT1 in it, and no I didn't actually pay for it -- my roomate owed me money for rent, so he gave me his car.) It would do a 14 second 1/4 and I thought I was a god.

consider me a properly enlightened AWD convert.

Honestly, I think they are both really good, just different. The STi, at least in stock form, can be a little more usefull here in Cali. with stoplights and traffic becasue of its larger displacement and "muscle car" like acceleration. The EVO, again at least in stock form, seems to be the better handler, making it better for the twisties and more open roads. I prefer the interior of the STi and the exterior of the EVO. I find the history and pedigree of the STi to be more interesting/better. All that being said, I personally prefer the STi for one major reason, the Suby community. We suby owners all seem to get along. There are fewer "boy racer" owners of STi's than EVO's, at least in my area. More Suby owners seem to be true enthusiasts, and that is important to me.

Hi, Teddy. I've merged your thread into an existing one because your question has been asked several times.

Instead, why not give us your impressions, since you've owned both cars. What version EVO did you own? I'm assuming it wasn't the USDM version VIII. Was it modified?

I didn't read but the first two messages in this topic, so forgive me if this sounds like anyone elses.

I personally love the STi, but Subaru is really going to have to have something special to counter the Evo MR.
