I think the STi. It has more torque and horsepower. The DCCD of the STi would be really nice for distributing the power to the wheels(Evo doesnt have one). Since price is not going to be a problem, since they are both almost the exact same price, I think you may want to go by feel too. But as far as modability I am not sure which would be easier. Im pretty sure its the Evo. But this is just my opinion and since it is not my 30k+ dropping into the car it will come down to you. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Come on! This is a subaru forum. The sti of course. The evo is cool though. That engine has been around for a while and it is super stout. I have heard that the evo does handle a bit better. Something to do with the steering rack, quicker ratio i belive. I suppose you could upgrade the rack on the sti to make it better. I think as far as mods go the evo will have good ones but 19psi is a lot. I mean i have heard of these motors on stock internals pushing 30psi so i guess you could go higher. It just doesn't seem as reliable. The sti you have a little more leeway as far a boost. I suppose they are pretty equal though. I know that they are both sports cars but i have heard that the sti does a little better in traffic. I have heard people who have evo's say that they looked at both and that only reason they went with the evo is because they got a better price. I would rather have the sti but the evo's front mount looks awful mean. 2cents

having driven one I'll tell you steering is awesome so responsive. When I got back into my WRX I was like damn "how long do I turn the wheel before the car turns"!

anyways I like the EVO a lot.

I have an STi, like straight line racing more than the twisty stuff. Besides my other car is a Grand National so the STi handling capabilities are much higher than I will ever come close to. I have beat an EVO with it, so I am happy. The STI has a better style drivetrain (set up like rwd). The only part that bugs me is alot of people think the EVO is faster in a straight line and I have to tell them that it is not. One thing I wish the STi had like the evo is the C/F rear wing. The evo's looks meaner than the STi's.

STi looks better quality to me...when both are parked next to each other and compare them one right after the other STi feels sooooooo much better, not just a little but way better. Now if u go drive them one after the other, the EVO does feel better handling wise and etc. But ofcourse i fall in love with the STi cuz of the boxer rumble.....instead an inline 4 that u can get out of any honda.....

Ditto same here, the handling is un-freakin-believeable .... I'm trying to get my WRX close to that .... I'm sure with the necessary suspension mods I'll be able to get close to that. Looks is a subjective opinion, personally I like the look for EVOs. After looking at Vishnu's dynoday results from Turbo trix

The stage 1 Evo's whooping the crap out of the stage 1 STi's, I'm all about the EVO now.....
I like the Twin scroll turbos that provide power in the low-midrange rpms as well.
I'ld take 5 speed over 6 speed thank you ..... less shifting more driving, both trannies are incredibly reliable.
Higher top-speed with stock ECU on EVO....
Plus I've noticed EVO's get you noticed more than STis ....
Sigh ... I want an EVO now ...

quote above, you is a f**k a**. Go STi!. I like EVO's since they are AWD turbo's and we need to stick together vs the FWD crowd. But they are still our enimies in this Turbo AWD world and I belive that Scoobies are better.
