You have to give them some credit. They have a very simple but 100% effective formula.
Step 1. Bloated one-note bass
Step 2. Sibilant high's
Step 3. Celebrities wearing their products
Step 4. ???
Step 5. Profit!
To be fair, the Beats Pro was not bad to my ears when I tried it. Fun cans for boom-tish type of music. Too bad the price was retarded hahaha!

People will buy anything because they think it's popular and marketed right. Does not mean the product is any good.

They were discontinued anyway. Those are easily the worst value for your money when it comes to headphones. Grados do sound excellent but they weren't comfortable on my ears. I am a huge Sennheisers fan.
Monster Cable is one of the biggest scams of a company ever. They make functional stuff but for some reason think they can charge way more like they were Bose just because of their name. Their stuff is no better than anything else out there at far lower prices.

I have a pair of HD 280 pros. I think i paid around 100 bucks for them, they sound phenomenal and are really comfortable. IMO if you are going to be paying much more than that for headphones you better have some nice hardware on the other end.

Ummmm.... the BRZ is a great car dude?
Find a better RWD sports car in that price bracket (NEW) that's better. Hell find any "sports" car in that range that's better.

People buy the BRZ for the hype not the fact its a great car. Its the same reason why people buy BMW and MB.

It's a great car. Find me a better car in that price range.
It's just like your headphones there. Anyone that's gonna drop $1600 on a set of headphones is gonna think some $500 headphones are just good... not great. But to someone that's used to $50 headphones... well those $500 headphones are pretty bad *** and $1600 headphones just look like a retarded expense.
I don't mix records or movie sound tracks for a living and I don't make $13m a year so I don't really look at things like that. I think the $1.5 million dollar house I was in the other night was down right amazing. But if I had a $20m home I could probably complain about that $1.5 million dollar home being small or having a steep driveway or being too close to the pin.

Sennheisers are nice, lots of people love em! Im not the biggest fan of how they look (not really too big of a deal) but I picked up some black chrome pioneer 2000ks cause they match my mixer, sound great
and they're durable as they come, big up for me as I tend to toss around my gear. Plus look sexy, and are not beats. I hate everything that company stand for.

Agreed i see them all over and as you stated mostly kids trying to be cool.My x gf was wanting some and i was like no way ended getting her some red $30.00 sony headphones and i was very impressed with them.
I've expressed my (unasked? LOL!) opinion to a few of my buddies asking about Beats. I tell them
Want to impress teenagers? Yup, Beats around your neck.
Want boomy bass, decent price and quality, go Sony XB900
If you're into more than just bass, then we'll have to talk a while - audio Technica, sennheiser, Grado, beyerdynamic, ultrasone, shure, klipsch, denon - those are just the brands I've personally tried.
Most folks really just want boomy bass and sparkly highs - to them, that's hi-fi.
Reminds me, I should read up on head-fi.org again...

You are trying to compare a vw bug (the beats crap) to a Zonda(high end reference)
