WTF is this Beats By Dre epidemic? (turns into audiophile thread))

Seriously? I don't get it. I see the damned things EVERYWHERE. What does an 11 year old need with a $400 set of headphones? Why does a 13 year old need to wear HUGE headphones while they're eating breakfast with their family at a restaurant. Why do people put up with that ****?

Sorry... but if you want to eat breakfast by yourself you can get your own table and pay your own bill.

And FYI... you're headphones are overpriced junk.

Seriously. The only thing made by them that seems to be any good is the top end studio stuff and you can do better for the money.

I've got a beat box... sounds great for what it is. Workmanship... garbage. The ear buds... best part about them is the monster cable. My solo's... POS. The sound is decent at best. Good range but the bass is pretty wack. I like that the cable comes out and you can replace the pads. The fold up is cool. The workmanship is junk.

Here is my favorite part of Beats By Dre... the warranty doesn't cover blown speakers. WTF?

Oh... maybe thats because all 3 products of yours I've messed with have smoked speakers.

I need some new headphones that don't have a $250 logo on them.

Well said! I've been researching "over the ear headphones" as well as "on ear headphones" for quite some time now for my son. IMO, it's just a fad. I don't see what all the hype is either.

People buy into the fad, mainly due to the name brand. I have a pair of Grados SR-60, which cost me ~$60. They may not be aesthetically pleasing, but I'm confident to say they're better than any pair of beats. People like what celebrities have and don't do their research. Just because a pair of headphones have bass doesn't necessarily make it good.

People will buy anything if they think it is popular.

They were discontinued anyway. Those are easily the worst value for your money when it comes to headphones. Grados do sound excellent but they weren't comfortable on my ears. I am a huge Sennheisers fan.

Monster Cable is one of the biggest scams of a company ever. They make functional stuff but for some reason think they can charge way more like they were Bose just because of their name. Their stuff is no better than anything else out there at far lower prices.

There was an ad at the bottom of your post, and I thought it was going to show some kids wearing beats at the dinner table or something, but it ended up being about lesbian moms :\

oh, and beats belong in the ground

its a fad. The head phones suck *** in my opinion too. But since its "in" to have this brand, then thats what it is.

I have skull candy. Got them as a gift. Not too bad, but id grab another set for the money

I'm with OMA, those beats are like a bad joke, i cant believe how much they charge for them, and they are everywhere, usually mounted on poseurs.

I just upgraded from Bose QC2's to QC15's, now that's a set of headphones that's worth 300-400, they actually do something useful. Saved my hearing on a recent domestic alaska flight (it was a freaking prop plane!)

I have been thinking about getting this set, but, $1600 bucks, that's my coilovers, so its got to wait.
