WTF is this Beats By Dre epidemic? (turns into audiophile thread))
Beat By Dre: The Exclusive Inside Story of How Monster Lost the World
They aren't even Monster anymore. It is a long article but a great read about the crap that Beat's have become. I lose respect to anyone who wears these in any kind of media because I know they are getting paid to market crap. So sad.

Depends on your music collection, hardware and ears. What is your current set up and what do you listen to? Source plays a huge role too
I have $40 Sennheisers and even those are excellent. My Shure DJ headphones are great as well. Obviously, the design isn't as clean as beats but that's honestly all you pay for in beats. Nice plastic and materials plus all the money they use for advertisements/sponsorship...

Yeah when I heard about the split with Monster my response was... man that was the best part of what they did.
My buddy used to cut the hair of one of the upper ups at Monster so he got tons of beats stuff for free or cheap... hence me having messed with a few different things. My buddy hooks me up.
Bottom line... the headphones are garbage. If I took that logo off the Solo's I'd say that's a $40-50 set of headphones. The monster cable and the replaceable pads push it up to $59.99.
Seriously.. that's about all I'd put them at. The logo makes up the rest. I have some $100 Sony's that blow these out of the water in every aspect as far as audio goes. I just wish the pads were replaceable. They're hammered. I listen to them probably 97% of the time over the beats.
I need something new... maybe I can talk Gagan in to hooking me up. LOL!

I think him and Jimmy made $300million just off selling shares. The company was built and marketed perfectly. Just wish the product was all there. HTC is whoring them out so it's only a matter of time before the company tanks. So selling shares was a smart move.
I personally really like the HD600 or the replacement HD650.
I also really like the Beyer Dynamic 770 I think it is.
After we (Oppo) do these high end ones we are designing we are likely going to make something cheaper to compete against the beats market. At least that's what we would like to do.

You can tell they were tanking when they released their headphones in a variety of colours, ala the iphone now.
