not really; issue is with ISP's (normally) using DHCP (dynamic host config protocol) to assign IP addresses. every so often the IP will change.
so even though those accounts might get blocked by iclub, he can create new ones once the IP renews
I can't take all the credit. Thanks to those who are involved in the group. You know who you are. There is always someone aware of the sketchy **** that is going on in iclub.....its only a matter of time until they caught up. We'll be here to confirm it. TD out!
I think this is going a bit far. I mean i know you need a license and stuff to have a business and repair cars or even do anything for a living.
But the OP just wanted to help someone out. He provided a service during his leisure time and charged some money for it. Im not saying he should advertise himself on craigslist and fix cars 24/7 without a license, insurance etc... But he should be able to do it for fun without consequences
Its the same as me asking a friend to say.. draw me a drawing and him asking for some money
or me offering to give my friend an oil change in exchange for a six pack
I think people are comparing the OP's sympathy to something much more serious.

I'm no lawyer, but:
1. OP provided automotive repairs for money..entered into a contract ..w/o being registered with the BAR, which is illegal.
2. The money owed will most likely never be recoverable, legally.
3. CaliSuby could actually contact the BAR, file a complaint, and possibly recover what money he's paid the OP.

Your examples aren't close to the magnitude of work needed to swap an engine, and the costs associated are way more...
I would take an engine build and $3-5k a lot more seriously than an oil change and some beer...you are past "doing it for fun" when doing something on that level

a lot of them are shared with other members (mostly wireless IPs from different cell phone providers).

Working on someone's car for beers is a lot different than doing an $8000 job. Even it you're only charging $3500.
I am doing my best to not get involved with this particular debate or the drama of the thread but I'm pretty sure that's all paul was doing. It was a general statement in regards to the specifics of the legal issues mentioned.

Bingo!
From what I can see Paul was referring to the post he quoted and clarifying the letter of the law. And he's right.
