im thinking of tinting soon, maybe around the 15% mark in the back
it sounds like a lot of people go 35% in the front, so maybe that would be cool
btw my friend got 35% on side/rear and 70% on fronts on his aspen white forester and it looks sweet, no cop attention so far, although he actually got pulled over for speeding a day after he got his tint, so he had to open his door to talk to the cop, cop was confused

Dug up the actual verbage of the law...
So from what I understand for the front windows, if you use any random material 88% of light has to come through (section 1). If you use a glaze, aka tint, you can have 70% of light coming through (section 2). The rear windows are game as long as you have two side mirrors.
I personally was worried about getting in trouble by the cops for tinting up front, but 70% up front is ridiculous. You can't see much difference than having nothing on the window so I felt it was just throwing money away. I tried to go with a tint light enough up front that it would contrast with the rears to not get hassled. I ended up getting 35% up front and 20% in the back. Now that I got it done, I don't think there is enough contrast to keep me from potentially getting pulled over if it’s a slow month for the cops, but I like it.

if anyone has a gradient style tint, 50/35/20 f/s/r, please post pics. i know it's a good idea to have contrast from fronts to side/rear so that cops may think you have no tint up there but i don't really like the look.

op, sorry for the tj but it's sorta related.

*EDIT*
Anyone have pix of 50%front-20%back? Or 50%front-35%back? My Momma wants tint, but has some concerns about the fronts.

dont have tint on my suby but my moms got an accord with 35%F 5%R. i was driving it one day in livermore and a cop pulled me over but i didnt get ticketed
i think one of them were being trained cause the other cop kept telling him what to do and plus he left his little cheat sheet of the police codes/acronyms in my car. just used my tint as an excuse to pull me over.

I've had 35% front, 20% rear on my last two cars and have only been pulled over for it once. The last car was a '93 Legacy Turbo wagon and I only got pulled over because of expired tags. Then he decided to be a **** and write me up for the tint as well (even though a car was on FIRE on the other side of the freeway). When I picked up the FXT, it was straight to Omega for the same tint. Driving a wagon helps with the stealth factor
