I haven't been in the snow in 17 years, but I'm planning on going up to Tahoe the weekend of Dec 15.

I wanted to snowboard, but it looks like we are going to ski.

I've been shopping around for snow clothes but I have no idea what to get. Went to Nor-Ski in Pleasanton along with Any Mountain near best buy.

Can somebody please recommend some gear for me to get to go romp in the snow? Or a place to buy reasonably priced quality equippment. I need everything basically. Pants, mittens/gloves, goggles, jacket, boots.

We'll be renting skii's/skii boots when we go up. I think we are also going to do some tubing too.

Thanks

i just came back from tahoe and northstar. yup, i did the grand opening run. they had 1 lift running and 2 runs open. the second run was the park. the conditions werent that bad in the morning but at midday, it was icy. i was expecting to see some patches of dirt here and there on the trail but it was pretty clean. there were a lot of people in line for the lift but that was to be expected with only one lift open.

i noticed they were blowing snow like crazy all over the mountain. i think they can get another run open if they keep things up tonight. i talked to people that went to boreal and then went straight to northstar. they said boreal sucked grande huevos.

it was weird to snowboard down a mountain when all around me was dirt. but lets hope more snow dumps on tahoe instead of this fake stuff

JUst came back myself and jimmy summed it up pretty well. Right around 10-11 it started to get kinda warm and from midday on slush started to appear. Was it worth the $29.... Yea, I think so. Was it worth the drive + $29... probably not. If the park is your thing it might be worth it for you. In the park run they had open, they had a useless mini stairwell thing (box on the right, stairs in the middle and a rail on the left) you would be on and off the thing in a blink of an eye. A small to medium sized jump with an oil drum stuck in the middle of it. A good sized jump and 2 boxes were set up as well- one with an incline->decline and the other was slanted. I of course saw these features from the lift. Too chicken **** to try that stuff out.

They were blowing snow like crazy and now the N* website says that they have 4 lifts and 6 trails open.

And also kirkwood opens tomorrow but I think I have had my fill of early season boarding. Think I'll wait until the entire mountain opens up w/ mother nature's white gold.

once you have a lift that goes to the summit, thats pretty much all you can do.

haha except the parking lot is right next to the highway with the police watching you!

I havent been to Boreal in years, i want to try their Bordercross course
It's a private parking lot. I never had any trouble, and would like to see how the police would do anything about me drifting a humongus empty private parking lot.

If anyone can make it out to rohnert park, they should go to Gonesurfing. They got 06-07 boards on clearance at 30% off. They are going out of business so hella stuff is on sale. Last years thirty two boots and burton boots going for 60% off! Im about to pick up a whole set up. Jackets and pants are 30% off too i think.

didn't see anything about this when i searched this thread, so hopefully this hasn't come up before...

anybody know of a fairing / air splitter for the stock aero cross bars? I'm gonna be roadtripping to CO for christmas and I'm worried that just having my board strapped to the top for the 17-hour drive is gonna be brutal without a fairing
