I've been on and off the last few seasons. My freshmen year was awesome. Went to Sugar Bowl and Mammoth. Mammoth was unique. Definitely somewhere you want to go once. The drive was crazy long though. Got a great story about Mammoth.

Our driver was into Marijuana and smoked it in his truck. Anyways, you know how the weather in the snow dirties up your car. His roommie, she wrote on the back of his truck, "I have 50# of pot in the back of my truck." Then the # was scratched out and replaced with lbs. Anyways.... he was smoking a joint on the way back to UCD from Mammoth. He was smoking a joint. After he finished, he gave the remaining weed to his roomie in shot gun and told her to put it under the seat. She actually just threw it down by her feet. Right after this, he was pulled over for speeding. All the typical questions. After that the cop was like... Do you know someone wrote on the back of your truck "I have 50lbs of pot in the back of my truck." Do you have 50lbs of pot in the back of your truck? He answered no, and of course he was truthful. All of us in the truck were like... oh, s***, we are going to get arrested in the middle of nowhere... Anyways... he left our driver with a ticket and that was that. We totally lucked out.

That's my story. Totally ready for the season to start.

Even from Davis was a huge drive. We had to drive to Lake Tahoe, then down the Nevada side to get to Mammoth. Way too long. I figure I could enjoy a Tahoe resort for less effort.

yeah, i dont understand why they close Tioga Pass? yeah i could see closing it to big rigs/ motorhomes, but AWD cars? thats BS, maybe it costs too much to keep it cleared for the amount of traffic it would-nt get

AWD cars still have problems with 35-40 foot deep snow

Northstar is more of a family/noob place...people willing to drive to kirkwood know they can ride, someone doing the bunnyslopes isnt gonna bother with that drive. its like having a bar at the top of Mt Everest, only the cool people can get there

Actually, OMA's probably not truly hating on N*. He's just more into the mellow vibe at places like Homewood or his beloved Bear Valley. First time I ever rode at Homewood, I saw it as the Bear Valley of Tahoe. To me, that's a good thing. I'm sure Ray (aka OneManArmy) will agree.

We can't really hate on one resort, but we sure as hell can show mad love for the one that cures our jones-ing. We all have our own reasons for loving our "home" mtn, right? Just like we have our own reasons for loving the particular Suby we drive.

Snowboarding and subies

I love winter

Found this on NASIOC but definitely applies to this thread.

Sorry if repost.

Get to see Ken Block take a jump in his subie at a resort.

Kirkwood gets more and higher quality snow....and it's steeper.

too bad they're over $70 freakin dollars now.

Resorts are pissing me off.

Yeah but northstar charges nearly as much and even with the new terrain is less than half the mountain that Kirkwood is.

But you have a point, nearly all CA resorts are way too freaking expensive.

Obscure little mountains (-not resorts) in Montana and Idaho FTW;

yeah....most resorts are WAY overpriced. That's one thing I love about bear...it's still affordable....for now. To bad their season passes are as much as kirkwoods.

I'll probably still buy one. 10 days pays it off. I'll put in 3 times that probably.
