rollcall...snowboarding...you know who you are.
'bout to pass out at 7400' but report says that lifts were on hold all day (as expected) due to high winds. Nat'l Weather Svc forecasts 80 mph gusts at 9200' at Heavenly so no lifts once again.
Buzzed bowling during after lunch tmrw mixed in w/ gambling on the docket. Then gonna find some live music at night wiff more boozin' & celebrating bdays! Yeeeeeeee!
My advice: ride Monday!
Winds will be less on Sunday but not by much. On Monday, the snow level should be below 5500' and the winds will have died down considerably!
I can't swing Monday, but will do my damnedest to shred on Tues. BLUEBIRD ! ! ! !

I agree... Monday/Tuesday the days to go.
My guess would be that sunday was probably the worst day of the season to try and ride.
Sat was WET. Rained all freaking day at Bear Valley. But you know what... I still had a freaking good time and got a LOT of runs in. No one there so it was straight lapping! LOL! Even got to venture in to some area where the new snow hadn't washed away yet. Had some fun.
Bear Valley is doing a really good job with what they have but what they have is really not much. There are some really really thin areas. I have honestly never ridden at bear with less snow coverage in some of the key areas... but as long as they're open I'll keep going. But they need some serious serious snow in the next 2 weeks to stay open through Feb.

Mt rose got quite a bit of snow. Went up in the afternoon at went snowmobiling at Tahoe meadows. Snow level was just under 8k ft. Had a great time, tomorrow should be even better. Was easily knee deep out there.
Stoked you still had a good time shredding the sogginess!
Me & my buddies didn't bother riding this wknd at Heavenly. Way too windy up top that upper mtn lifts were understandably closed. Such a shame too cuz that's where the actual snow was coming down.
Early Sat morning was bluebird, so I went for a jog toward the Stagecoach lift. During my warm-up stroll, it was evident by the look of the snow off to the side of the streets that what fell throughout Friday & overnight was a mix of rain & snow.
Then it was confirmed as I trudged uphill passing the bottom of the lift. Oof! That cringe-inducing sound of the SSSCCCCRRRAAAAAPPPEEE as skiers & riders were making their turns down the final approach to the chair.
Did. Not. Sound. Fun.
Today it rained all day. Was raining at 7400' when we left at about 11:00. A bit later (after "donating" money at the Hard Rock Casino
), found the same rain at 7382' at Echo Summit.
Checked Heavenly's snowphone during our lunch pitstop to find out that they shut the mtn down just after 12:30 cuz it was crazy sloppy out there. I'm assuming 'twas very windy still w/ the wintry mix coming down.
Bottom line: Like ya said, Ray, WE NEED SOME SERIOUS SNOW IN THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS ! ! !
Tomorrow looks somewhat promising with the diminishing winds & the snowline lowering to 6500'. Gonna watch tmrw's reports. Keeping Sugar Bowl in my crosshairs for Tues, yet will remain pessimistic!
Remember, hope & optimism fuels the storm-blocking high-pressure ridge. And it seems to feed the wind machine & super high snow levels.

Two Planker Steve is prolly gonna gimme shizz for this, but I'm rolling solo to Sugar Bowl tmrw if anybody is down to shred. I need to use this comp lift ticket voucher ASAP cuz I don't foresee being able to use it anytime soon.
And I still have my snowbomb freebies. I'm hoping to use the Sierra one in a couple weeks. The Bear Valley one is reserved for Sun, March 29th, for the annual SubaBrew PowderHounds trip.
Plus, I have a couple other discounts I can do too. $35 at Diamond Peak, a 2-for-1 at SquAwlpine, and a Heavenly/Kirkwood ticket I scored off craigslist.
Where is the damn snow?!?

Sorry to hear abt the split, Jacare. Silver lining is you didn't have to spend $ on her for Valentines Day.
Good luck w/ the sale. Hope the gear finds a good home.
