I told Jordan to put in for the time off last night. I'll put in for the time off. I think I'm going to take Friday/Monday off... possibly split early Wed or take all of wed off. Depends on how many days I can pile up between now and the trip. Either way, I'm gonna be up there for 4 days minimum.

For those b1tchin' & moanin' about how there's nothing on which to get yer slide on, check out this li'l vid that Bear Valley posted yesterday....

Looks fine to me. Sure, the depths aren't what we'd like as June-uary draws to a close, but the resorts have been doing a damn fine job of keeping our winter playgrounds in really good shape.

Much props to them for making chicken salad outta chicken shizz!

They've finally got their grooming game figured out. First time in a long time. There's like 4 hours of pretty killer riding per day right now. They've done a good job.

Yeah, the vid shows that Bear mos def have stepped up their grooming game.

But these incoming storms got me doing this () cuz our playgrounds look like they're about to get RAINED on big time!

The Nat'l Weather Svc just updated their forecast this afternoon. They're a bit more optimistic than earlier this morning that the snow levels may possibly start around 5500 ft, which is much better than their initial forecast of 8000 ft. Whatever the case may be, they are still predicting that the snowline will rise as the waves of tropical moisture moves through. Grrrrrrrr

DAMN IT, fellas! Knock it off with that optimism nonsense. (I keed... I keed.)

I'm sure y'all must keep your finger on the pulse of the forecasts & whatnot on Open Snow Tahoe (The Tahoe Daily Snow | OpenSnow). Bryan Allegreto, the artist formerly known as Tahoe Weather Guru, recently posted a Top Ten List of favorite activities to make it snow in Tahoe.

The #1 activity..... "1. I gave up hope. The ridge is fueled by hopes and optimism."

So help out the cause and turn your stoke factor down a notch or two.

Maybe you meant to post OnTheSnow's long-range forecast link, which shows the predicted snowfall amounts over the next 8 days.
If so, this link shows a prediction of 28" accumulating Fri (6 Feb) thru Mon (9 Feb).

Another good snow forecast site is aptly named SnowForecast.com. For Tahoe (and all other Sierra Nevada Mtns resorts), click here.

Finally, just as your Nat'l Weather Service link shows, you can type any city in the "Local forecast" box. Throwing in any spot in the Sierras gives a better idea as far as snow levels and accumulations.

For instance, entering in Kirkwood gives their 7-day. Plus, any weather watches, warnings, etc. will be more fitting for the area of travel, like the following tidbit in the Special Weather Statement issued at 3:56pm:
"* SNOW LEVELS INITIALLY AROUND 5500 FT RISING ABOVE 7000 FT OVER THE WEEKEND"

mode OFF *heh heh*

THE WINDOW PRICE FOR A TICKET AT HEAVENLY IS $115 ! ! ! SERIOUSLY ? ! ?

Dayum! Other than the REI or Sports Basement discounts that save about 20 bux, anyone know of similar or better deals to be had in South Lake?

Since the actual "snow" (not rain) forecast is in flux as far as snow level, my friends who are heading up this wknd would rather wait to buy a lift ticket or voucher til they get up to Tahoe on Fri afternoon to see Sat's weather outlook. In the event that it does rain on Sat, in which case they will not snowboard, they prefer not to be stuck w/ a pre-purchased-in-the-Bay-Area lift ticket voucher they will likely not have a chance to use any other time this season.

Planned a trip to Reno for weekend about two months ago. I got lucky with my timing. Hitting up Mount Rose. Hoping it's 8200 foot base means fresh snow from top to bottom.
