Lucky dog. The only "race" I had with ski patrol was from the top of Hari Kari down to grizz lift after dropping in from the upper parking lot. Smoked the ski patrol and his radio smoked me as two patrol were waiting for me off the lift.. Lol. Talked them down to 2 weeks pass pull and an avalanche awareness video.

 

u guys seem to have alot of fun with ski patrol. never really encountered them anywhere besides the main trails

I set of a HUGE slide dropping in from the lot.

One time my brother and I dropped in under west ridge on a HEAVY snow build day. I was in the middle of a huge turn when I realized there were two ski patrol trying to catch up with us but we had a TON of momentum so once we got out of the upper bowl into the cliff section I was able to drop a chute and make a hard cut right and mix in with the average joes. We just hit the line and blasted back to the top. LOL.

I honestly believe that when we're in the flow there's not to many folks that could catch us out there if we don't want to get caught. But a radio is a radio. LOL!

 

I've got some lectures over the years. Usually when doing something really stupid. But I've also helped them get a few people out over the years.

I remember one year coming down under the lift up the front of bear I got tired mid turn and lost my edge and plowed the fence down. LOL. I hear... HEY pick that up and look up to see ski patrol.

I pretty much said... **** you. You pick it up. I jumped up and bounced. I was done for the day so just went straight the bar. LOL!

 

ive been trying to go to bear cause wanted some new place besides tahoe but driving down to socal for snow more time consuming going north to tahoe lol

Not the bear in socal... Bear Valley... norcal.

Anything south of Mammoth/June is pointless.

Usually ski patrol is meh. Sometimes at bigger resorts they can be D bags when there's older two plankers going around crying.

Oh for sure. If the conditions are right there's no reason to stop, top-to-bottom. That cliff section in the middle is a lot of fun, always good turns right before the cliffs where everyone else is scared to go. Keeping my fingers crossed to be able to get out there on some good days this year... need to check up on a few of my favortie drops.

 

Yeah. I'm up there a lot. Usually only get into that section a couple times a year. Last year I think I got in there once. Crap season.

I've been checking Kirkwood's webcam all day and it has been dumping. Looks like very wet snow though. Has anyone made it up yet? I'm getting tempted to do a Sunday day trip or maybe even call in sick on Monday.
