Both year's headaches could have been eliminated by having enough volunteers and proper planning, but it is a year-long proposition, and coordination for next year needs to be underway already.
one more reason I'm not so fired up about July, its too soon!

I had questioned about possibily being of assistance on any web related issues but have yet to get a responce back. I would still be interested in helping on a possible redesign of the site.

I'm seriously considering getting a Ham license as well. It's tough seeing what could be an amazing event crumble under the hands of a few and I'd like to be able to help even more next year. Anything we can do to promote rally in the relative NorCal region is a good thing.
Pete, as always, thank you. I hope everything works out for the organizers and the competitors and that no one feels too burned by this to come back and give it a go next year.
I'll post what pics I have in a bit.

Oh, and I kinda like the later date of this event. The possibility of snow is always a bonus IMHO
Our setup at Checkpoint A was kickass!!

That is another good point, I can't say for certain, but I think the Kim family's chances would have been a lot better if they had a radio. I doubt they would have been lost for more than a day or two.

There are so many out there that any kind of posted list is going to be pretty incomplete.
I'd start with googling ARRL, then focus in on our locality.

www.qrz.com is a pretty good place to start looking for anything ham-related. Also, my wife's a VEC (test scorer) so she could probably help out with study sessions as well (and maybe even run the tests).

That's awesome, I didn't know Mel was a VEC, if we can get together a BAIC HAM study session I'd probably want to attend even though I already have my ticket.
I learned the questions and answers on line and took the test, which is really easy if you have any kind of engineering or math background, but had very little interaction with anyone who knows much of the actual material- especially FCC rules and HAM etiquette stuff.
This idea deserves its own thread....
