Reno Rally NEEDS volunteers!!!!
The Reno Rally that is running on December 2 is desperately short volunteers, we need anybody who is into Rally, no real experience needed, but you will learn how to do timing, or time cards and help this event happen.
If you have a truck and would like to drive the rally stages- we need people to do sweep, if you have a HAM license we need commuications support.
If you want to spectate- sign up as a control worker or gate block marshall, there's no way to get any closer to the action without being inside a race car!
If you know anybody else that would be into this let them know, right now we are in danger of losing about half of the rally due to insufficient workers, so we can really use everybody who can come up.
If this is something you can do, please contact the volunteer coordinator, Denise McMahan at
marymountdenise@aol.com

Hey Pete,
I am going to see if I can get some interest from my friends.
I don't have a trunk, but you've seen my car. It is not as low now though, I am basically at stock STi ride height. Not sure if that is sufficient to run sweep or not.
Let me check my schedule, I am pretty sure I can help though.

For sweep they'd be looking for a real rig, winch and 4WD w. dually's would be best, as if we need to pull somone out of the cactus we'd like to do it quickly.
There will usually be a "fast sweep", but that position may already be filled, I'm not sure-
e-mail Denise if you can make it up there in any capacity though.

OK, good to know.
I will see what I can do.
Where would I need to stay at for this event? Truck stop hotels or in reno/sparks?

I would add that this is by far the most accessible rally for Bay Area peeps- only about 3 hours to Reno, the Rally runs on Saturday, no need to take any time off (for weekday workers) or anything.

Hey Pete,
So how much of an actual time commitment is it? Just the Saturday? What are the hours? Presume I would need to get up there Friday night? What time would I be able to leave on Sunday?
I may be able to help if I'm finished with prep for my photography shows the following two weekends.

I'm gonna look in to getting the time off. I figure if I can make it I'd love to be a gate block marshall or control worker, maybe shoot some photos. Should I email Denise even as tenative, or wait until I know for sure?
