... Is this in reference to grey-zone German imports in the '70s & '80s?

I know the article, and it certain mixes discussion of Motorex cars and the changes, as well as seizures, but there are no bond released cars seized discussed in that article. Send me your friend's contact info, or send him mine, I'll review it with him.

Vandrel's car was not imported by Motorex and not bond released.

Big Bird was imported pre-Motorex on a temporary import bond for testing and was obviously loaned out to movies and later modified to compete, but it was never bond released.

Justin should have gotten the option to export Big Bird. The original 'problem' according to WI is he had the blue tag out of the engine bay for refinishing (which is held on with plastic rivets). WI said it was a VIN fraud violation because he removed the VIN tag. Chassis code is actually stamped on the firewall, and tag is more of a build info thing, it's not the VIN. They would hear none of it, though, insisted they were enforcing a VIN violation. I talked to him several months ago when they first came to see the cars and started the mess.

R33 crash test did not meet US standards originally because the side impact needed a reinforcement bar. From what I remember, it didn't pass because we do our side impact tests higher up from the ground than they do overseas, so the car did need beams higher up to meet the requirements. Of course, the R34 was never tested -- in theory it could pass. EPA didn't pass either on the Skylines but was correctable (Motorex did some compliance work here too).

I would like to hear more stories on that turd Scammy. He bent me over and scammed me out of $5000 bucks.

Yes two R33 GTRs were in the shop on 5th street. One was mine.

I hate that SOB....

Never a Skyline to be found. Before the move to SJ, and after. So, is this before the parts fiasco, or after there was no one left to scam?

*** Edit*** I have more dirt on Scammy than this.
