"On March 13, 2008, the NHTSA added addendums to the rules as they apply to the crash tested R33′s.The previously mentioned Confidentiality Agreement with Motorex/J.K. Motorsports has expired, thus the steps required to legally modify R33′s has been released. The only information not included in the disclosure concerns EPA required OBD modifications. Full disclosure is available for review:NHTSA-update.pdf"
That is from the link I provided and I've done some research on it because I'm interested in getting one sometime down the road. The R33's can be modified LEGALLY to be safe on our roads. Things like seat brackets, headlight bulbs and houseing and a ton of other things need to be changed though. Motorex was one of the few companies that did it legit.

Motorex skylines are getting taken back by the government from my understanding. Motorex scammed the system and only did crash testings on R33 skylines and claimed they did it for the r32 and r34. If i remember correctly since they did the testing on the R33 they are the only ones that can be legalized in the US.

Biggest question yet, it's unknown the ban may be through out all R models or anything including an RB who knows what kind of **** they'll bring on these cars. Question is, will it extend to the stageas, laurels, and cefiros??? Now what about silvias? It's a big ordeal that until something is put out there that Everything is legal.... It's a waste of time.

So even though a car gets federally certified with crash tests and emissions crap its still illegal? If you have the paperwork to prove that it passes in both area, they can't take it. Thats just my thought though. Almost everything I've read on this topic ends with r33's that have been tested with crash tests and emissions are LEGAL and ALL r32's and r34's are ILLEGAL. Thats my understanding.
