I didn't read a lot of replies but I can tell you first had experience that there are registered R32's and 33's in California. I used to work at a shop in the city and I know you all know of it. Method 4 and we had TWO registered and plated CA R33 GTRs. One of these cars is a Tommy Kaira edition and people all around TE bay can tell you it's here. The other is owned by a cop friend of mine. He owns a R35 and a registered CHP blue vinned R33 GTR. People who want to say illegal this and that doesn't know their facts.

Just cause its registered doesn't mean it still cant be seized. Still illegal in the fed's perspective, just like the honey badger they dont give a ****.

#1 most egregious violation of forum etiquette right here.

P.S. I find it funny how some people insist "it's OK because he's a cop" when it comes to, well, just about everything.

Unfortunately yes, and this is coming from one of the biggest GTR fans ever. And the "Hype" was from reading about these japanese Unobtanium turbo AWD supercars 15 years ago when we are all trying to eek a bit more power out of our 130hp FWD civics. But yeah look at all the cars we've gotten over here in the last tens years, and now the R35 GTR which is better than any previous GTR AND legal here really makes trying to get a street legal R34 pretty pointless. You can get into a used R35 thats LEGAL for the $64K for that illegal R34

And if you dont really care as much about the performance and just want a rare/unique JDM car I think you would be way better off with something like that 1973 Skyline with the RB26 in it for $26K, I think I would be more impressed seeing one of those on the street than an R34 and that thing will always be legal!

I hate it when it's thought that the new R35 is called a skyline and its not. No where in the nissan line up exists a skyline right now.

That makes about as much sense as getting all uppity about people calling it a Nissan when it was originally a Prince!

Eh, if you got it you got it. There's plenty of R33 GTRs around the USA registered and in SoCal Promax was selling a CHP vinned legal white r33 GTR.

Does not say Skyline anywhere.
If we really want to be specific the G35 was the Skyline 350GT.
Pretty sure there's a reason why it's not marketed as a Skyline in the states. Most Japanese refer to it as an R35 not a Skyline either.

Jeremy wiki wont do it for me.
