Not looking at buying a new camera, what about a lens maybe?
not familiar with your camera, but photoshop is your friend.

Look for white balance setting, or a contrast setting, usually either of those will allow you get some better coloration in your photos.

and I know people who takes pictures with their camera phone and make them look better than mine...as long as you see the angle, you're set.

And yes, I do have the settings. Which also means I lied about which lens took this (I'll edit above):

f/22, 122mm, ISO 100, 20s exposure (ah, someone already read the EXIF...)

There are handful of others from the same evening
Perfect shot. I will make an attempt and share soon.

I have to also dig in my stash of old shots I have taken and show you guys what I have done.

if you think 2.8 is bad, then don't catch the 1.4 bug. remember most f/1.4 or faster lenses are single focal lengths, they are not zoom lenses.

Not familiar with that particular camera, but point and shoot are actually pretty good for close up using the macro mode. This picture was taken using my (old) Panasonic FX7 -- I couldn't get a good shot with the XTi.

Thanks. Now we just need a weekend with no rain and good sunset for taking car shots.

it depends on the shot, I always use a tripod in low light because they current lens I use isn't very open, but the newer ones I'm getting/thinking about getting are gonna give me a little bit wider of a range of not having to use a tripod.

But for anything more than like 1/10 sec shutter speed, you've gotta use one...

not familiar, but do whatever it takes to make you like your pictures. Forget what everyone else says, once you're satisfied then you're good. ANd if it doesn't work...you could always resell it on ebay.
